I think this is quite funny. Apparently, the MAC-10 is the deal of the
week. No wonder, it's sh.t.

I think players get so used to the same weapon for wars and practice
that they're going to buy M4's and AK's.

More crying on the steam forum then...

Wow, that's quite a cool idea, I'm sure you're right that it'll spark a
frantic chorus of whining on the steam forums (and I expect there'll be
servers which override it in their .cfgs too), but it seems like an
ideal way to give a little extra balance to the gameplay and hopefully
make people think more about diversifying in their choice of weapons :)

I have to admit I like the idea, but I think that it's dangerous tinkering
too much with an idea that obviously works. "If it ain't broke..." etc.

I Guess time will tell :)  they can always undo it afterall - its good
to see they're still trying to develop the game, something which I think
has been a big factor in keeping interest over the years (although
obviously not so much now as the beta years)

Yeah. But CS's biggest advantage (in it's easrlier days) was the fact it
was constantly changing, new maps being added new features and bugs
being removed.

With the stability comes familiarity. I think that familiarity will wear
increasingly thin even amongst the hardcore. I think many of the CS
players have already left for BF2.

I may be wrong, I'm out the loop.

Nice to see my Krieg and Bullpup have dropped in price ;-)

If it were more pronounced I might have reinstalled CS:S and played
again but it seems to be mostly muted.

Yes, this is a good idea. Maybe they could diversify the armor (ala Rainbow
Six) and allow heavier and slower or lighter and faster versions of the body
armor.  I like tinkering with different weapon combinations. I find the
small Mac-10 and TMP force you to shoot&scoot so I tend to live longer while
using those weapons. (But get fewer kills....)

I think they should adjust your run speed so that you're not only affected
by the weapon you're holding, but the total weight of the gear you're
carrying. Someone holding a knife but with an AWP as primary should run
slower than someone holding a knife but with a MAC10 as primary. It might
make for less AWPing on public servers as the quicker players are the ones
who get into position first.

Damage taken, especially to the legs, should affect speed too.

CS is - in my opinion - partly sucessful because it tries *not* to be a
simulation. It takes games like SWAT and speeds it up quite a lot.

The game you describe already exists. It's called Firearms.

There's a mod out there called Gun Game that I've been playing a lot
lately, and it's very cool because it forces you to get good at all the
weapons, even the nade and knife.

Hehe - so will they stop stocking weapons if sales drop enough?

I'd *love!* to see the forums/servers if that ever happened.

Or they start stocking cheap Chinese knock-offs... "Hey, my AK is a fake!!!"

Pleh....

ak-47 and colt are popular because they are versatile, they can be used at
short - long range.  Subs can only be used at medium range, and aint even as
good as pistols at that really.

Plus looking at the price changes, it seems fairly redundant to me, not
enough of an increase of decrease to make it worth worrying about, if an AK
suddenly costs $5,000, then it'd make a difference.

I thought that's what I said. How dare you agree with me...

Don't you know how dirty that makes me feel?
