Console in HL 2 Ep1

I am having no luck in getting the console to work in HL2 EP1.
I have treid the "-dev -console" parameter, but this does not seem to work.

Can anyone help on this?

Bring up the options window and click on the Keyboard tab, then click on
Advanced. There's an option labeled Enable Developer's console, check
that, and hit ok a few times and you're good to go.

What country is your keyboard from? I believe certain scandinavian
keyboards need you to create a new bind in your config for your
preferred key (Because the keyboard layout is slightly different from
UK/US)
