Actually it's already failed - the idea is to gradually reduce the product
without no-one noticing (so long as folks are regularly buying - the
difference is obvious to those who buy rarely). And from what I can gather
there's a lot of Valve customers annoyed at what they're now getting for
their money, so they've been caught out already.

Yes but they were made aware what they were buying i.e. legth wise, so
can't argue really.

What are they annoyed about? How has what they bought been diminished
since they bought it?

£20 for less than 4 hours play. I see that it can be had for less, though
the RRP is £49.99!

Which game are you talking about? From the thread title I am guessing
HL2:EP1, and that costs $20 (not pounds) via Steam and has taken me
over 4 hours so far to play. The RRP certainly isn't anywhere like
£49.99.

My mistake - the strikeout made it look like a '4'.
Nevertheless there's at lot less game for your money than previously.

Yes, it is probably worse bang for the buck than HL2 was (though like
I said, it is quite a bit cheaper on Steam), but as someone who really
enjoyed HL2 and wants to see the story continue, I much prefer them to
release regular episodes at a premium than have to wait ~5 years for
them to write a new engine and go through all the feature creep delays
that entails so they can release it all in HL3.
It is even good for this and other HL communities that there is
something new to talk about once in a while.
