I'm still having problems. The various programs I've used are having
varying amounts of difficulty recognising the shuffle and iTunes still
locks up my PC.
Hmm
Tell me if I'm wrong, but can't you just mount the iPod like an external
hard drive and drag and drop music that way? No need for any programs
whatsoever (other than Explorer, of course). I don't have one, but my
brother does, and I think that's what he does.

You think wrong if he has an iPod, you have to use iTunes (which I
think is superb) or one of the kludge solutions.

I think it needs iTunes.
