Ok. I've set up a HLDS for TFC and it's working fine but... I'd really like to
understand how and what the autoexec.cfg and server.cfg files do. I'm attempting
to run it at low grav which works fine for the first map that's loaded when I
start the server, but subsequent maps are back to normal.

Does anyone know of a config maker site, or a site that explains the natcheral
order of things?

Cheers,
Jim

server.cfg is the (default) server settings file, and is run every time
a map starts, You should change the gravity in here.  I don't remember
off the top of my head what autoexec.cfg is for, I thought it was
clientside only, but I may be wrong. I'm a little rusty on HLDS :)

The PHL server command centre for HL1 is a good reference resource,
unfortunately some of the information is wildly out of date (mainly
information about network settings and WON servers)

The same as for SRCDS :)
http://whisper.ausgamers.com/wiki/index.php/SRCDS_cfg_startup_order

When a server runs, it reads from four basic configuration files -
autoexec.cfg, server.cfg, motd.txt, and mapcycle.txt.

Theres a explanation here

Thanks guys.

It occurs to me now - should I maybe be running the TFC server from SRCDS rather
than HLDS? Or is that not possible?

Are you talking about TF2?

Otherwise you should use hlds :)

Check also this site

And finally - let's now when you need to test your server setup
I am quite sure we could arrange some online fragging :)

TF what?   Where did you get that from? ;)   Have you been playing about
with Anders' magic time machine?
