Certainly cheaper than paying £10.50 per month to rent a bit of copper
wire :-)
(Only if you already have broadband of course..) .. but presumably its
only useful if you have their voicemail service too, else you're stuck
if the PC isn't working. What would be really great is if someone
could design a Skype Phone with built-in answerphone which I can just
connect directly to my router via ethernet cable. :)

Yes, I am on cable and it is saving me £100/year to drop the landline.

SkypeIn comes with free voicemail, at least for now. You can also get
it to forward unanswered calls to another number, e.g. you mobile.

Yes, there are some WiFi phones appearing, but none that I know of yet
with Skype clients on them. Although I am not sure I would bother as I
have a set of 4 DECT phones each with good battery life and headset
ports which work great with Skype and my PC is on all the time anyway.

I have Vonage and Love it. Unlimited long distance in the USA and Canada.
Voicemails via E-mail and complete call records available via the internet.
($29.99/phone line/Month)
You can use any analog phone (not just a PC) that you already own. (I have
the Two line 5.8Ghz wireless phones)
If you have a stable broadband connection, it's worth it.
