I think I've made a major boo-boo and I don't know how to get out of it. On
highway 17, I've figured out I need to lift the buggy with the magnet crane
so I can jump the bridge, but the buggy is stuck in the water out of reach
of the crane and I cant move it when I jump in it as it is submerged. Any
ideas????

How did you end up leaving it in the water?

Two suggestions: either go back to an earlier saved game and make sure you
park the buggy in reach of the crane. Or, try blowing the buggy out of the
water with the grav gun.

Incidentally, you don't HAVE to jump the bridge gap ...

Ah, I never thought of that. I'll give that a bash later when i get back on
my PC. I cant go back to an earlier save game though because there are only
4 showing after i ditched the buggy, and the next one is back at welcome to
ravensholm. I dont know whats happened to all of the ones in between. And I
really dont want to do the big buggy drive again unless i have to.

Tell me more????  And wont i need the buggy after the bridge?

Cheers,

Well, considering that's the first thing you ever did with the buggy, you'd
think it might have crossed your mind :)

Sounds like you've only been doing quicksaves.  There are only two quicksaves
and two autosaves (just as in HL1); they overwrite each other constantly.  If
you want to make a permanent save you need to press Esc and then Save Game from
the menu screen.  Fortunately HL2 also creates a save at the start of a new
chapter, which HL1 never did.  I'm surprised you don't have one at the start of
Highway 17.

Yep, you will need the buggy, you just don't have to drive it over the bridge.

(I'm assuming he means the little raised bridge near the crane, not the huge
"Bridge Out" bridge across a canyon.)

LOL. Tbh, I haven't played since June 13th according to my last save game.
It's all a bit hazy but it's coming back to me slooooowly. Anyway, it worked
nicely. Thanks folks.

Me too. I do tend to save using quick save though as I'm to lazy to do
anything else.

Fair enough, but a full save now and again will sometimes save you a lot of
heartache.  It was possible in HL1 to quicksave yourself into a bugged or
ammo-less situation that you couldn't get out of without a full save.  Though I
haven't heard of that happening in HL2, being able to go back a short distance
can help, as you are discovering :)

Well, it appears the crane and magnet have a job to do for you :)   Have fun
with the sea-land containers!

Oh, I meant to say, I kinda crashed avoiding one of those big a.s creatures
and just left it thinking I wouldn't need it any more. Just out of reach of
the crane and totally submerged :o(

Use grav gun to punch it out the water.
