find any groups.

Strange.  Wouldn't have thought the topic of his post would generate much
traffic for him.  They usually try something along the lines of 'gordun
freemun is gay'.  If he's hoping to generate flames through it being an OT
post he certainly picked the wrong group ;-)

Yep excellent choice for discussing cars

I'm still in for the Morgan
Any takers?

What's your all time favourite if you had the money and the time :-)

If I had the money I'd get a copy of Hearbeat City, and if I only had the time I'd listen to it in
my crappy old car.

Hey, was the Morgan Freeman gag deliberate?

Hehehe, very clever... yeah, quite nice cars, although I've been brought up to look slightly
askance at them as my dad has always been into cars that look that old but also are actually that
old. He has a 1933 Riley Monaco you see...

A Woodie? :-)

What about a Ford A

I have always been into Morgans as each car is handcrafted individually
according to the customers specs

Hey, that looks cool - reminds me of the chase in "Brother Where Art Thou?"

Well, yes, that does sound rather good! And I'd not say no if I were offered

Though I think the OP was referring to the rock group 'The Cars', I do like
my VW Passat Sports - no intention to buy anything else when I get my next
one.

If, however I was a rich bugger then it would have to be the Aston Martin
V12 Vanquish...

A Toronado? What's that, like 400 hp with a frikkin 3 speed automatic?
What a plodder.
Hell, my VW beats that- 550 hp, 18 cylinders made by combining 3
6-cylinder motors, 4 wheel drive, 380km/hr top speed...

They weren't _that_ much bigger.. the biggest of the Toro's was the '74
at 228 inches with a 122 in. wheelbase, the '68 which was by far better
looking was 211.4 in. with a 119 in wheelbase. They started uglying them
up in 69 and really turned them to sh.t from '71 until they discontinued
it.

A co-worker had one of the '74s, it rode quite smoothly and seemed to have
lots of power. The guy was hooked on them and never bought anything else. He
died in the mid-nineties, and he had one 'till then.

Well yeah, they all had a nice ride, they were after all two ton + cars
with wheelbases that exceed the total overall length of most modern
cars, but the '71 and on Toro's were just boxy Cadillac wannabes, uglier
than sh.t. '66 through '68 (and the '69 & '70 but they got rid of the
cool fastback look on those)  were the classy years with style that
looked like nothing else on the road. Then again the mid 70's on was a
horrible time for most cars...

It looks like a pregnant Mustang with a Dodge Ram grill stuffed into the

It'll probably be too heavy, sure it'll get 'good' mileage but sh.t,
even if the Prius is totally underpowered that mileage in the face of
where gas seems to be going is godlike. Don't get me wrong, I love tire
boiling ponys, F1 and NHRA are my favorite auto sports of all time, I

The Prius is sh.t. Expensive to buy, expensive to maintain, handles
like a golfcart on its crappy tires and 55mph is stretching the truth.
On the plus side, Leonardo Di Caprio drives one.
Get a Golf Turbo diesel. Fun to drive, 30 city mpg and you can convert
it to run on used cooking oil.

They're not that expensive. As for the mileage I'm sure the reported 55
all around average is only under 'best conditions' but so what? Even if
it's 10 MPG off that's still better than any car out there and wouldn't
those cost savings offset the maintenance costs?

>On the plus side, Leonardo Di Caprio drives one.
>Get a Golf Turbo diesel. Fun to drive, 30 city mpg and you can convert

I've owned one turbo in my life and I'll never buy another, naturally
aspirated is the way to go. I've also driven a few VWs, granted they
were older models and they all drove like bricks and the seats felt like
they were made out of cloth covered plywood.

I know it's a car, I drove one for years... hard to beat the wet/snowy
weather traction of several hundred pound of engine sitting directly
above the drive wheels and it had the neatest speedo ever....

I'll be honest. I'm jealous as hell but I can't afford beast like
that. Next to that, currently petrol in The Netherlands is about $1.40
a liter, you calculate.
I'm trying to scrape some cash together to get a new car to replace my
scrappy broken Cit. (I'll post pic's when I get to it)
Talking about cit's and speedo's.

Oh tell me about it. The only reason I don't cry myself to sleep at
night over the loss of my Toronado (a tragic tale in itself) is knowing
it got something like 8 - 10 MPG and gas is closing in on $3 a gallon
here...

alt.config is the newsgroup-request-newsgroup :-)  (ie, the place you
post to when you want to create a new newsgroup)
