I replied (quite angrily) to a scam today on this group.  I didn't
delete the original scam post, but it now appears to be gone.  Just
wondering if the OP was moderated.  If so, awesome thanks for the
protection.

No.   alt.games.half-life is an unmoderated discussion group.  Although
some ISP's do try to filter the more obvious garbage.

It's possible that the scam post may have been repeated so many times on
so many different newsgroups that many newsservers cancelled it (there's
often a limit to how many times most newsservers will allow the same
message to appear).

I use news.individual.net which must have some fairly heavy duty spam
filters attached to it.. it's rare that any usenet spam gets through to
my machine anyway :)
