Greetings all... thought I'd drop in to say wotcha ;-)
It's been a while since I posted anything here, but it gets like that
now and again for many of us I s'pose?
It's not that I've been AFK or anything.. just been lurking and reading
in the odd lull during my hectic work and social calendar.. and never
quite found the time or inclination to write anything remotely
resembling something intelligent... there again, bearing in mind the
amount of drivel that is getting posted here these days, would anybody
have noticed the difference?? ;-)
Though I did have a conversation with Strider t'other day.. a real one,
with voices and everything (really I did).. (see his Skype post.. I do
recommend it - skype, that is). I think I managed to bore him shitless,
but that's probly cos I was more shitfaced than him.. lol!

I reckon part of my withdrawal from the group was down to my pc's
withdrawal from HL playability. I'm a much happier person for finally
sorting it out (again, it was just down to time constraints).. Every
time I started to play SP or MP, the Computer just said No.
And it turned out to be as simple as replacing the stick of 512mb ram I
'temporarily' removed about 4 months ago! So now I'm back online as
well..so get another bash going.. with rats maps!! Er..please? ;-)
Are your servers still running CF? Had a look last night but didn't spot
'em so I ended up back at the Gdawgg Low-G Killbox server. Ah bliss..
just like riding a bike 'cept there's no snarks to run away from! ;-)

Speaking of Gdawgg.. in the stats page ( http://gdawgg.com/g3/index.html
) I noticed a certain DrC and Jimbob... any relation to anyone we know here?

Ah well, that's enough from me. Just wanted to let you know, if you
care, that all is well in ratland and that you ain't getting rid of me
that easy. ;-)

Cheers all

Hey Andy, good to see ya.... Still have the server set up with Rats
maps but stopped cranking it up a couple months ago... Few decent
"Rats" maps available and since I can't play anymore I kinda lost
interest.... I'll keep it running if ya want to play....

                   "The Buffalo Theory"

A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest
buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest
and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This
natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because
the general speed and health of the whole group keeps
improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.
In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as
fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of
alcohol, as we know, kill brain cells. But naturally,
it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.
In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the
weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more
efficient machine! That's why you always feel smarter
   after a few beers.

Cheers Jack, you too.. but don't worry on my account. There's plenty out
there and like I said, low-g killbox really is my thang just lately.
Rats maps will always be top of my list tho, but just wouldn't be the
same without Jesus watching over me... ;-)

you top with 110 odd and me 2nd with 80 odd. Loads of carnage:)
Cheers for that.

Hey yeah.. carnage is cool and plentiful in killbox! I love it!!
T'was a pleaseant surprise to see you in there. Nice spiderman suit BTW.
Glad to see you're promoting the high visibility concept. I'm never sure
if anybody else can see my bright red suit or if they just see a Gordon
but it is very satisfying to kick a.s whilst being so visible. I left on
about 290/120 but still might go back for more... I gotta lotta catching
up to do. P'raps we can do an aghl invasion one day?
Cheers too..

Wotcha.  Good to hear from you.  Thought the new lady wife had curtailed
your pleasures :-)

Been looking at Skype here too.  Tried it with a few family members and it's
great but found my microphone is crap.  Considering a Skype compatible USB
phone.  Saw one for £20 recently.  Seems to be catching on - cant believe
that they will 'never' charge for 'Skype to Skype' calls though.

.... where do you ride a bike with snarks chasing ya?

Hehe.. it'd be a cold day in hell etc...

Unless you go for one of the all singing n dancing ones that you can
actually use as a normal phone as well I'd recommend just getting hold
of a decent mic and running the sound thru your speakers.
I didn't really look into it before getting into it but was lucky enough
to find a pair of phones on ebay that I bought for about £6, but it
wasn't till I installed skype that I realised that an actual phone
wasn't needed. Because I didn't have a mic at the time (or even now) all
I have done is bluetack the handset to the front of my monitor for mic
ability and run the sound thru the speakers.
I don't think they will charge for skype to skype as there's just too
many other ways of doing it. Where they make their money is from the
other services ie, skypeout, skypein, voicemail etc, but even they are
cheap as chips. I've got a skypein number, tho the only drawback at the
moment is that the only available numbers for the uk are all london area
codes (020). The pizza shop didn't seem to like it cos they hung up on
me for some reason... ;-)

> .... where do you ride a bike with snarks chasing ya?

Running or riding a bike...doesn't make a difference.. just go round in
circles ;-)

Much like obligatory drunken posts, if you're truly shitfaced there's no
way you're going to manage to log on to your PC and actually make the
connection to the group or to skype and actually do what you planned to do.

That said, on a couple of occasions my ODP's have ended up in ie.comp
I suspect they don't appreciate it too much :)

I think it's like the infinite monkey thing... it's obvioulsy gonna go
wrong a lot of the time, but you can get it right once or twice through
sheer probability. Besides, my pc is always on anyways so that's at
least half the battle won.
