command to not download sounds does not work

i bunged that command into my config & joined a server running 'that
quake sound pack' which i already had from another server. this one
decided i didn't have all the files, downloaded a couple then
re-enabled the sounds.

That wouldn't have been our server would it?

Sorry bout the server crash on Sunday, it turned out that the 44 man was
having problems and had to be rebooted.

sorry to take so long replying, forgot to tag the thread.
yes your server.
thought there must be something up, it got laggy for me every time a
grenade was thrown but de_train is why i left, i whole-heartedly
detest that map. i didn't return cos the server was empty.

Hmm was working ok from DK?

i was on before the server was reset from 8-8.30/40ish bst, nothing
game-breaking, though.

it's too cluttered. it's a sig/aug map & i seldom use those weapons &
when i do i tend to use them unzoomed or die. it suits them because
they're good close & at range where i usually go one way or the other
- sniper or m16/ak47. my favourite map is de_dust2 if that helps shed
light; i can easily score 10:1 with normal bots as either ct or t
where i usually work hard to get 3:1 kill ratio on most other maps
with normal bots.outside that,  i average 5:1 on de_dust & cs_italy &
4:1 on cs_office & [pathetically] 1:1 on de_chateau; i just can't get
the rhythm of this 1, though i do like it.

If u had of said, I could have changed the map easily enough.

Unfortunately, due to RL, I had to be afk, but had let my lad play instead,
with instructions that if anyone needed admin for any reason to give me a
shout.
