Oh I understand. Well I'm not going to explain how to do it as it's very
sh.t and very inconsiderate.

Is the OP talking about getting on a server that plays music to everybody on
the server?  The music can be turned off (on some of them) by typing "stop"
on the chat line, without the quotes.  Otherwise, hitting escape, then
clicking player list, will give him the opportunity to mute the offending
player.  If it's something else, then I haven't run across it yet.

Grr.

Although I may well begin to warm to the frog once I've had a few days of
the "Gangster Chimps"

"Jamster! this week have introduced Prime8, a new mobile rap group. Deacon
and Dash (the Chav Chimps / Gangsta Chimps), the two main components of the
collective, will debut their "funky hip hop" number "Monkey Pants" next
week in the UK and hope to emulate the success of their musical mentor,
"The Crazy Frog", and quickly make the transition from mobile to
mainstream."

(details from Jamster's house of evil^h^h^h website).

They're even corrupting monkeys.

The swine.

Ta. I should be around a little more, well until the next game steals my
life but somehow WoW has left my a little cynical.

San Andreas, San Andreas and San Andreas. I'm thoroughly enjoying that
at the moment it's a vast improvement over GTAIII and VC although I
think the A.I is worse.
There are many great new additions mind, not least the taking of hoods
and the missions in general far more fun to play apart from the odd
annoying exception.

SA is on my want list - really enjoyed VC.  Plowing mindlessly through
Painkiller at the mo (out of boredom more than anything else) but expecting
Vampire Masquerades 2: Bloodlines in the post tomorrow.  £5.99 (inc
delivery) from Play.com.  I'm a cheap bath-tub I know but daughters recent
18th birthday has left me gaming on a shoestring...

(still putting all my pennies in a jar for Stalker tho)

Hey Stri... maybe you can do me some hints on GTA:SA. I'm trying to get
some cashola together and beating civilians is only nickel and dime stuff.
Is there more money in the B&E's? Where's the truck to do home
invasions? Wnat more money for some house purchases.

Very imaginative. I'd have though that in the several months I've been
absent you might have thought of a new way to tease.

Guess ya had to leave the spare brain cell for motion!

A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest
buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest
and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This
natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because
the general speed and health of the whole group keeps
improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.
In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as
fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of
alcohol, as we know, kill brain cells. But naturally,
it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.
In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the
weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more
efficient machine! That's why you always feel smarter
   after a few beers.

Go to level 51/60 and just found the missions dull after that. The
appeal is playing in a group and PvP and those were never my things.

My only other alternative was to play in the AGHL group but their style
of play differs from mine and they liked to voice that on a regular
basis.

Ahhh... guessed that was it.

Should have taken it up with us first, though. There's a forum, and
all.....

Not only that, but I think that helped make my mind up. I had a lot of
fun in parties and solo'ing up to level 51 after that it grew stale.
I tried the AGHL bashes again to rekindle my interest.

AGHL like to take the game at a walk, me at a run. I had to walk to keep
the peace and when I broke into a walk or run I was reminded at every
opportunity.

Now amount of discussion could change that I was geared to play the game
in an entirely different way.

Something like this:

http://www.intheholecs.net/hlss/half-life-sound-selector.php

Keep in mind, though, that not everyone enjoys lots of noise while
playing.  I did enjoy one guy playing "Eye of the Tiger" as we ran from
spawn to the usually choke points in the map, but then he was sensible
enough to turn it off so we could hear the action.

It's fun in moderation.

Ah well, meester Peeg$$ has blown the gaff, so I might as well explain how I would do it... my
souncard is a pro-audio one, so it doesn't have a mic preamp built in - just line level inputs. So
I have to use an external mic-preamp - which I have built into my mixer. Which also has my CD
player connected to it. So... if I wanted to play music in game, I could play the CD, turn it up on
the mixer (along with my mic) and hit the talk key.

As for the guys saying how annoying it is - well, just mute the buggers. I do that all the time on
DoD when the French kids start blabbing away - now WHY do they do that when the server clearly
states it's UK? I know the servers are open to all, but I wouldn't go to a French server and then
start yammering away in cockney. Actually, I might... ;o)

Probably just the way they have things wired externally - I could do it with my setup. I'll give
you a clue - my soundcard doesn't have a mic socket - just line-ins.
