Ok, I rebooted my computer today and now it gets about 10 seconds in
and locks up. The only thing it shows as it's booting up is the
processor and memory testing 'OK' then nothing. It says press 'DEL' to
enter setup but nothing works.

I built the system myself in May and have not had any problems prior
to this, although I seem to remember it locking up once about two
weeks ago but restarting fixed it.  I've periodically tried it over
the last few hours thinking it may have been heat related but still
nothing. I added a new printer two days ago but that's the only new
things on it.

I was rebooting after installing the new MS patch for IE so I don't
know if that has anything to do with it.

Any ideas on what I should do?

Have you tried booting up in safe mode?
Have you tried clearing the cmos (jumper on mobo) then loading optimum
settings in Bios? You may need to change a few other settings in Bios.
Does it pass the memory test?
Does the hard drive click crunch? possible HD failure!
Are the IDE cables seated firmly in the sockets? (rounded cables are sods
for this)
Did you already have the blitzer virus. It attempts to prevent the patch to
install and may have stuffed it for you. :(

Ok, the computer is still dead. After clearing the cmos, it worked
long enough for me to install WinXP on the new harddrive I was
installing. Unfortunately, only minutes after that, it's now doing the
same thing. Unhooked everything but the vid card and floppy drive and
tried booting from a floppy but it locks up too fast. Clearing the
cmos has no effect now. Swapped CPU's also with the same result.
Strange thing is that it misread both CPU's. Each time it thought it
was a slower speed than they really are. I'm beginning to think the
MOBO is the culprit.

Have you updated the bios on the motherboard?

I hadn't before all this happened and still can't even get to the BIOS
now. I still have to test my vid card and memory tomorrow in my old
machine. If those work, it will be narrowed down to the motherboard.
After checking the Abit newsgroup, I found out the board I have has
been a little flakey.
