McGrandpa - 25 Oct 2004 23:17 GMT So...Steam
It's installed. It's running. It hasn't scanned my hd's yet. I recall playing HL TF online a LONG time ago. That still work? So, I don't have CS. I have HL and OF plus some mods. I am thinking all this stuff is single player stuff. Is there anything I'd WANT to do with Steam?

Shawk - 26 Oct 2004 00:20 GMT > So...Steam > [quoted text clipped - 4 lines] > > McG. Hi McG. If you dont play MP then the only other use I've found for Steam (so far) is not having to install all my old HL & OpFor games from those old scratched disks and then trying to track down all the updates. Which is nice. :-)
McGrandpa - 26 Oct 2004 00:28 GMT >> So...Steam >> [quoted text clipped - 8 lines] > from those old scratched disks and then trying to track down all the > updates. Which is nice. :-) But you still enter your CD key somewhere, right? I've already got full installs running of HL and OF. So no steam needed. OK, but it will be used I'm sure when I get my HL2 DVD in the drive :) McG.
Shawk - 26 Oct 2004 00:43 GMT >>> So...Steam >>> [quoted text clipped - 13 lines] > used I'm sure when I get my HL2 DVD in the drive :) > McG. Yeah. Used my HL GOTY key to set up the account. That entitled me to d-load all but the Source, CZ and 3rd party games. I did like that aspect of Steam cos when I came back to lurking around here last year it whet my appetite all over again to dig HL, OpFor etc out and play them again. Unfortunately my original copies hadn't come through their storage in their hallowed place in the back of a drawer unscathed! Shaun

Mine are now teenagers and I'm not allowed to enter their rooms let alone touch their CD's. Bit unfair considering I've been waiting years to pay them back for having no old records, CD's or games left without scars!! :-)
Cannon Fodder - 26 Oct 2004 21:25 GMT HeHe... Touche'.... I had almost forgotten those days.... My "kids are now 41 and 38....

BTW, Priced HL2 collectors Edition at EB Games in Winnipeg today, $99.95 plus taxes So I say to the clerk " hold the door open Nov 16th 9:00am Cause I'm comin in fast" Boy!!! the enjoyment I've had from HL1 was sure worth the price, I've played it about 13 times(or more). It rates as the BEST game I have ever played, bar none, If I get as much entertainment from HL2 (and I'm sure I will) it will be worth it at twice the price. Looking forward to playing it and chatting with you youngsters about it Soon.
Bests regards to all you HL people

[quoted text clipped - 3 lines] > "Always be able to find a little humor > even in the most grim situations" Well we had a -9 deg C. about a week ago which is about 16 Deg F. and it's only fall yet. Our temps can and do drop to - 35 to -40 deg C. in the middle of winter.
I was born and lived in Saskatchewan till I was 18 and can still remember the winter of 1949, In january the temp dropped to -51 or -52 deg F. for nearly 2 weeks, We had to go out daily and haul feed from about a mile away with a team of horses and sliegh to feed the livestock . Geez that I will never forget.
You may find this strange but I've never played online, I've always been a single player game sorta guy, You would beat the pants off of me with one hand tied behind your back if I ever tried, But it was a Good thought.
best wishes, Rene Lamontagne

The guys could take you into a server, show you around, let you in on all the neat cool stuff, things you can do. Like my son did for me. You may not even like the game you're in itself, but you'd likely enjoy the experience of being in one place with everyone live, even once :) McG.

You are probably right McG, I think I may study up on this aspect of gaming and give it a whirl later when I learn enough about it . As it is right now I have not paid much attention to online gaming and am dumb as a stump about it.(double clutches mind into 70 year old Learn Mode)
Cheers and thanks, Rene Lamontagne
