Much the same way Half-life deathmatch was part of Half-life1. CS:Source
is the 'surprise' they had in store for Half-life2 customers to-be.

Like I say, they're integral. It is possible to play them separate but
if you buy Half-life2 through steam you will get CS:Source too. Where
you choose to 'activate' it is entirely up to you.

It will. You don't have to play it or even activate it. I think a
decision has been made somewhere that if you preload HL2 then you
preload CS:S. I imagine to the majority this is not a problem.
I'm not entirely certain about any of this but that's the way it
appears.

And besides, its not as if you can play Half-Life 2 at the moment anyway
:-)
Remember that TFC was always bundled with the HL1 patches... I guess
this is the same sorta thing really.
