Hello there,

You may or may not know that the alt.games.half-life newsgroup has an
IRC room. Details as to where to find this room can be found at the
bottom of this post.

Due to reasons that I won't go into, the most of the regulars who have
in the past hung around in there have now left and it's up to me to try
and inject some life back into the room.

In the future I anticipate that this may well be a room as popular as it
has been in the past and the release of Half-life2 will help along with
the many great modifications which will be released for it, as I've said
in other posts. If it doesn't get that inject then it may loose it's

In the past the IRC room has been used to organize bashes for such
modifications and as such should be kept alive. You can help with that.

So. If you leave your PC on, if you use IRC, (or even if you don't) lurk
there. There won't always be conversation there but if there is news
going around and as the amount of people in there grow so will the chat
and the news updates.

Remember, this IRC room is there for you. It was created for your
benefit. Make use of it.

It's all good intention :) But i don't see that would be a use for IRC
any more with the Steam friends-tracker list which sorta does the same job
(Incidentally... There's still a number of absent AGHL'ers from my steam
friends list :-) )

I've logged in today to save it from the dreaded un-reg-of-death for the
time being :p    but i hardly ever use mIRC any more, so I don't know
how often i'll be there... Besides, it seems that someone else has
stolen my nickname!     Afterall... if it does die a death, it can
always be resurrected quite easily...

<snip first offensive draft>

Once again you type a response when I don't think you've considered the
consequences or the fact it's completely contrary to what I'm trying to
achieve. Am I a troll? do you need to post the polar opposite and be
rhetorical for the sake of it.
Not everyone has Steam, not everyone wants to use Steam. Hell some
people are against the very principal of Steam!
I'm not one of them but if the IRC room goes to sh.t, it will at some
point be missed.

Maybe you should think about that before you put fingers to keyboard in
future. Yes, I did before sending this reply in case you feel the need
to come back with the half-backed smart-assed reply you keep in reserve.
