Ok, not sure *exactly* what that means, y'all, but here's the link to
the post from Gabe Newell;
http://www.hl2fallout.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4221&st=0&#entry76575
btw, there's some really funny replies to his post, have a look. One
guy registers just so that he can say 'thank you, Valve' (yeah coz
they're only releasing the game to get our gratitude) but then it
becomes clear that the guy has no clue (like me) what 'going gold'
means..."Uh, does that mean the game will be released soon?"
In fact,here's his post - c&pd:
I just registered so I could say, thank you valve :D also
does this mean that Steam users get HL2 this monday? or dowe have to
wait also? THANK YOU SOOO MUCH I've been waiting years! lol
MIKE BAGLOLE
also when do we get the SDK? thanks Valve! all modders love the word,
gold :D

Imagine that! People who only start posting to a message board when the game is
about to be released...

Not you in particular, just the dozens of newcomers who appear whenever there's
a hint of HL2 in the air :) More of a joke for the regulars, really. Not a
swipe, just an ironic smirk. Everyone's welcome :)

Well, be lookin for a bit of that here too, eh? Just like in
alt.games.doom
I wonder if HL2 will have a bunch of flamers like D3 does? Including
those who pirate it then bitch about it like they're big/cool/it ? :)
I bet we get 80% of the same ones in here ;)

<sigh> I sure hope not. The way id made Doom3 was just begging for
half the FPS community to dislike it. But if Valve has taken all of this hu-
mongous amount of time they've had (6 years!) to perfect a game full
of new and innovative gameplay and really interesting content and design-
to complement the pretty graphics and physics and all that... then I think
it will be pretty hard for the few perpetually disgruntled gadfly's to get much
of a foothold on it :-)
