Whats the rush?  the preload is utterly useless on it's own..
everything that steam downloads for HL2 is locked inside the .gcf

you miss the point. the EARLIER the pre (!) load starts the better for
US. because if all who plan on buying hl2 via steam - like ME!-
already have the bulk of its data on their hard drives when it actually
gets released the download times for the rest will be minimal and steam
wont CRAP OUT under the pressure. ^_^
so it is not utterly useless but VERY USEFUL! :)

i`m stunned there isn`t a pre-order option anywhere on steam :(
strange...

lol.. I understand that.. however, I'm sure you will have plenty of time
to download it :) unless you're on a Jethro-class 24.6 connection, it
shouldnt take over a month to download :)  ... i'm pretty sure there'll
be a pre-order option on steam eventually ...  but patience is a virtue :)

I'll hve you know it's a 26.4 connection with an occasional 28.8 connection. Whao.....
slow down... too much data. :-(

Just found out my parents got DSL hookup and a digital camera. Now the fun starts
"Dad, don't send me those 2 meg pictures... it takes me 20 minutes to download them!!!"

1/10 - Only moderate mild language used to provoke, minimum ranting,
overall a pretty pointless troll. Poor effort.

It wasn't a troll, it was a question.
