I just reinstalled half-life, then downloaded the update 1.1.1.0. When I try to enter TFC, it tells me that my update is out of date, then it tells me it will search for a new one. After doing that for a few seconds, a message came up saying once again "1.1.1.0 is out of date and there are no newer updates". Is TFC totally gone now? Or is there somethin newer than 1.1.1.0? I mean wtf, if there's no newer update, then why can't people just run servers using vs. 1.1.1.0?? > Is TFC totally gone now? Or is there somethin newer than 1.1.1.0? HL 1.1.1.0 used the WON authentication The WON servers is has been shut down last month Only thing left is the new Steam client for online play http://www.steampowered.com I know work is in progress to have CS 1.5 run without WON authentication Don't if that solution will apply to other HL mods You can still use HL 1.1.1.0 for SP and MP LAN gaming There is a rumour that you might be able to disable WON authentication and do MP gaming on the internet But I guess most servers is runnning Steam these days, chances of finding an elderly version might be rather small to limited HTH/Peter Yeah, just download steam. I have just downloaded The steam program but when I get to the part about registering the game it says the cd key I am putting in is already registered to another player ???? could this be me from when I use to play tfc through the won authentitication system ?? I decided to just leave it until Half-life2 since I'll get a new key then.  Signature"Shooting barrels has never been so much fun!" So its a contiuation of HL so it should just follow on also I presume once I get a copy of HL2 with the cd key I can then register the copy on my steam account and start playing TFC online through Steam ?? That I'm not sure of. From a personal point of view Half-life2 will allow me to play Half-life2 (obviously) and CS:Source instead of the old fashioned CS. From your point of view I'm not sure what it will allow. It may not allow TFC at all, even though it should. However if TFC doesn't get ported with the Source engine after Half-life2's released I'll be very surprised. Signature"I stole, and then I lied." The solution is to send Valve proof of purchase/ownership, so they can remove the previous registration. Exactly how to go about this should have been explained you when you received the error message. I wonder if Gameplay are still going to send me my Team Fortress 2 that I ordered in 1999? Sanddancer |
