I've only ever set-up a web server before not a game server, but when I try
to connect to my server e.g. http://blahblah.dnsservice.com i will get a
"Page not found" screen in my browser, but other people CAN connect to it. I
have to type "localhost" in my browser if I wish to see it.
So, see if someone else can connect to it before you try anything else i
guess.

I considered that, but it should at least show up on the half-life
internet game menu for me shouldn't it? Since thats just an index
provided by the WON servers...

Not necessarily... there is something you have to set to make sure the
game appears on the WON list.. and i can't remember what it is, but I
know that it is possible to make an internet game that does not appear
on the WON list... same as it is also possible to make a LAN game that
*does* appear on the WON list, even though clients for that game are
required to be on the same Class-C subnet.

When you start the server, in the server console screen, do you see the
words "WON Auth Server" ?
If you only see "WON Server", then it won't be showing up on the list.
Read here for much more detail;

Setting up a Counter-Strike server is in essense the same as any MOD or
Deathmatch;

I do get the WON Auth Sever message at server startup.

Then it should be visible to others, AFAIK.

I'm afraid i don't know an awful lot about routers. but have you checked
the manufacturer's website for known issues? ... I know that some
Linksys routers have known issues for people making Half-life servers.
Also, have you tried searching google for other people who may be having
problems with the same router?
By the way... you mention about connecting from behind the firewall...
does this mean you are connecting as a LAN client? ... you cannot
connect via the internet to a LAN server.. you must set sv_lan 0 before
the game will let clients connect from the internet.

At least Linksys customers *get* a website. I highly suspect my ISP
bought a big lot of these routers after their manufacturer went bankrupt
or something. I could hardly find configuration info, let alone
half-life specific stuff.

Hehe, I looked again, turns out Symantec absorbed Nexland, and now
requires you to have some code through registering the product to get at
the Nexland information on their site. f.cking lot of good that does me,
considering I didn't get the registration info with my router...
