There's a danger of spoiling a surprise here, so I have to ask you what you mean
by "nothing happens". Do you mean the doors don't open? If so, the solution is
to hold the switch down for longer. If you mean something else, please say
specifically.

There *is* a known bug at this point, but it isn't to do with the doors opening.
Try the above first, then come back to us if that doesn't get you any further.

Yeah, sorry, that was it.
I just pushed it like a button and was surprised the door did not open
fully.
I guess I have gone soft playing too many more modern releases...

No need to apologise, we help-bots are here to serve :) That particular switch
doesn't operate like most others in the game, so you're not the first to have
trouble with it.
Now you've operated the doors correctly, perhaps you can understand why I was so
"apprehensive" (groan) about revealing what comes immediately after that. There
is a bug associated with the next bit where the screen goes black and stays that
way, which I thought might have been what you were referring to.
