okay... here's the deal.. i have the following problem:
I felt like installing half-life the other day, but i'd already sold it...
very well... off to the shop to buy it again. All's well. I install the
game... No problemo... but then when i try to play the game it crashes
instantly (when i actually START the game) without any notification of
what's wrong...
i fiddled around with the graphics settings, but no better result came out
of that... :'(

So i installed "ye olde" warex version, and it worked just fine! but i don't
want to play with the warex version, i want to play with my LEGAL cd and a
LEGAL cd-key! does anyone know what's wrong?

Maybe you need to patch your version?  HL does not work by default in XP.  I
couldn't get it running until I had it patched to 1110 (?) I never
understood their version numbers...

Grumpy old fart?
And which one exactly would that be. You can't swing a dead headcrab
without hitting an ol' fart in these parts.
As long as your not hitting the old fart in *his* parts, if you know

Well, I think the first recorded post in google is some guy asking for a
leaked demo of Half-life (along with other stuff) in early '97 ...
although AFAIK there wasnt much activity in here til mid '98, when
people like Nilz started turning up :)

Dont get him started, Scott, please! He's that swedish kid that came in
here about six months ago, and posted *loads* of replies to *every*
thread. Nothing would stop him - the fact that he had nothing to say on
the subject, or nothing amusing to add didn't phase him at all. For a
couple of weeks the newsgroup was full of single word replies to hugely
overquoted reposts.

Don't encourage him, or in the end Spyder'll have to speak sternly to

I, for one, don't mind being a part of the AGHL legacy, so you can make
Cajun jokes and Bold can kick my taters for all eternity and I'll count it
as a privilege.
:-)
Also, I did develop my own 'wacky Cajun recipe' but decided it wouldn't be
very healthy in the long run, so I'm playing hooky from the mortgage
brokerage for the summer and doing manual labor (landscaping type stuff). My
back is stiff, but my mind is loving the break! :-)
