Patience is a virtue. A big penis is too. So I've heard...

Having both is a true rarity.

You'll probably get a HL2 voucher with the next system you buy
- along with a DNF voucher.

It'll be a CS2 voucher if you get an ATI card :)

Selected ATI Radeon products.

In the US, for example, you can find such offers at BestBuy, although every
major retailer probably has the same offer.  It's labeled right on the box

Yep you get to have HL and all the mods (I think) for free until HL2 is
released and then that offer expires..and you then can only have HL2....

You can get them all (inlc HL2) via Steam or pay a bit for postage and get
them on CD....

I am using Steam...I have heard about it on here but only signed up
today...it's actually a good idea to start playing after only 5 mins and
have the game continue to download while you play... I had baought HL
already (but I don't have it with me so I am playing it via Steam)...but now
I get to have all the mods etc aswell....

I think however I will want to pay the postage to have a physical copy of
HL2....call me old fashioned :op....

Oops...this reads like you can't play them at all after HL2 comes out but
obviously you can...you just have to download them b4 it is out!

you DO of course realize that _ALL_ (that i everheard of anyways) mods for
half-life are availible for free to download off the 'net (the retail ones
are just the free ones on CD) right?

No - Opposing Force isn't free.. The HL2 voucher is supposed to give you
a free subscription to Op4 aswell until HL2 comes out (I don't know
whether it gives you Blue Shift though)

right.. my bad.. i guess i always saw those as Expansions, rather than Mods,
since they were AFAIK commercial releases rather than fan-based projects
from the start.
[ot]
I personally despise CS-retail, since for some reason quite a few of the
younger players have no idea where CS came from, on irc it's a constant fuzz
about "CS Cd-key" and so on, rather than "Where do i install cs? in my hl
folder?"... That sucks... in real life (or as close as a nerd can come to it
anyway) i normally harass people for mentioning that they use CS retail and
the likes.

Yes, they were commercial releases, but they are still mods.. and
function in exactly the same way as all the free ones.

CS Retail would have been fine if not for the oversight of making the
installer program install itself as a totally new game.  Installing it
to folder seperate from the HL folder seemed to cause alot of
unnecessary problems.

Need I say Gunman Chronicles?
Originally a mod for HL, since released as a SP game of it's own
Some very nice features/maps/ideas I haven't seen in other mods
