I had an upgrade and lost my saves a year ago and wearily began to replay
deus EX last week.....I reached the last played level fairly quickly and am
really enjoying the game.
Next time I play though I will take it more seriously and learn to hack
computers and stuff.
Looking forward to Thief III and HL II. :-)

The party level on Thief 2 is great. I could play on those rooftops for
hours.

So much capacity for hurting innocent civilians. Fun fun fun!

Its a fabulous game and one Ive played through about a dozen times.
Even of the sixth go I was finding new stuff and you cant say that
about many games. The Thief series I love too - the first one more than
the second but both are excellent. Im one who thinks they royally
screwed up DE:IW so Im sceptical of whether T:DS will be as good as
the first two. Hope they release a demo first as I have zero respect for
magazine reviews. HL2 I still believe will be a good game

I really hope than Ion Storm will have learned lessons from Deus Ex as
regards character interraction. Thief has an ability to do this better than
anyone because of the more sedate pace and intimacy of the game, but apart
from the interaction with Brother Junius in the 'Haunted Cathedrial II'
level they have not yet really develop that.
Thief II was rushed and the first few levels were made by programmers
learning on the job, I loved jumping from roof to roof in the 'Party' level.
'Thief I' will go down as one of the great classics in 'first-person
adventure' history along with HL I, Deus Ex and of course Quake II.
I have heard reports that Deus Ex II is not so good. Must get the demo.

I don't expect see it "develop" either. Character interaction is hard to
come by in a game where nobody's supposed to know you were ever there.

Thats why you introduce characters who do know youre there.
In Thief II you had to rescue a woman held hostage. After all the carnage to
release her she not only did not say thanks but did'nt even see you!
Cutty in the 'Cragscleft Prison' level was a very bare interaction.
Deus Ex's interactions are good though the prisoner I freed disappeared when
I asked him to wait while I cleared a few rooms ahead!
Try playing Dark Project though, the Bro. Junius part is quite good.

Is this DE 2 IW?  Or the original?

Its the original. What we used to call DE I as opposed to DE II.
