Maybe he wants to play on steam servers?

My old HL folder is 2.27GB, my Steam folder is 2.46GB .... Not an awful
lot of difference there... unless an extra couple of hundred MB worth of
updates and other stuff that i've installed on to it is "Bloated".

News to me? - All my custom stuff is still intact from when i first
installed Steam 1.0 back in september.

Yeah, he's full of beans... Steam works great... I use both WON and
Steam since many of my favorite servers have migrated to Steam... The
problems he stated simply don't exist...

Well, to be fair he has one good point. Why would you upgrade to steam
when WON works perfectly well still. I downloaded steam now and
installed it, but there's not reason to use it over WON, and in fact,
I've only used it once.

You'll all have to go to Steam eventually since they will be phasing out the
WON ID system soon. There are no concrete dates yet, but looking at this

The word from valve was something like "we'll shutdown WON when steam is
working the way want it to" ... which could be a lot longer than that
:-) ... But Steam or no steam, i expect WON would have been shut down
eventually anyway, once HL2 was released and noone wanted to play that
old thing any more :) .. at least this way, we can carry on playing HL
online for as long as we like.. instead of just getting to a point where
it stops being worthwhile for the WON servers to stay, and just "dies".
