Hi Everyone: Once I played Blue Shift, but if I recall, I uninstalled
Half-Life since. Blue Shift is not on my computer now.
I am playing Sweet Half Life and I am near the end (in a large silo and
a flying ship is attacking me and little robots are after me) and my
computer keeping locking up and whatever audio starts to repeat rapidly.
Only solution is to shut off the power (cant turn off the computer, Cntrl +
Alt+ Del does nothing.) So I am wondering if its the High Definition Pak
that is causing me trouble. I've tried the several different video modes and
that didn't stop the problem.
Please help. How can I tell if the Pak is in my computer. I've checked
the Sierra file where all of the HL stuff is filed, but I don't recognize
anything as High Definition Pak. Iam about ready to dump Sweet Half Life
despite having enjoyed it greatly to this point.

Mine locks up every time I get to this section too. Things get hectic
with the saucer blasting away, and then everything freezes. It did it
on my old system (P3 600, Voodoo 5500, 128MB), and it does it on my
new one (P4 2.6, Ti 4200, 512MB). I don't know what causes it, but it
isn't the HD pack (I played it to this point on my new system before I
even loaded BS & HD pack). Maybe Lefty knows what the problem is.

Honestly it sounds like the infamous elevator bug.
There are two lifts in this area.
Maybe they are causing the glitch?

Neither of the elevators are moving when everything locks up. Each
time it happens, I'm up on the ledge strafing from side to side to
avoid fire from the saucer, and firing at it at the same time. It's
like there's too much sound and video action for the system to handle
(different from the elevator bug, which is a clipping problem when the
level changes), so everything just freezes up. It happens after the
saucer has taken a lot of damage and is trailing smoke.

Mine has locked up in places where the software had not yet rendered
the buggy material, but was getting ready to load it.
If you have the Blue Shift CD, reinstall the hd and then uninstall it.
Then reinstall HL and SHL. I tried that, and it worked at stopping the
train from exploding.
HD pack will list off where it put the HD pack in a menu. I also
reinstalled the opposing force update (didn't take before) and then
reinstalled it and blue shift. No probs.

gives following for the High Difination pack problem
"Advice is given to uninstall the HD pack before installing and playing this
mod; for my part, I simply renamed the pak1.pak (the HD pack pak!) to
something else -- "HDpak1.pak" -- and it worked perfectly fine."
