I finished HL2 and I had posted that I was a little disappointed with the
end, and I found the puzzles and problem solving too
easy.........well............I am 4 levels into Doom3 - AND I AM SO BORED!!!
No storyline, repetitive tasks, just shoot the things trying to kill you -
and that's it.

I don't want to go back to it - but now that I paid for it - I feel like I
must - yuck!!

my 2 cents.....

For those of you in the same boat.. you all knew what Doom3 was going to be,
and if you didn't, it's your fault for not doing research on the game before
buying it. Even the developers themselves stated it is going to be simple
and to the point. IT'S DOOM. Nothing more, nothing less. For what it is and
what it was meant to be, it's an amazing experience. I knew what to expect,
and got what I payed for.

As far as HL2 goes, it could have been great. Unfortunately it is not
because of Steam, and the numerous amount of bugs that plague the game for
many users. Many people can't get the game to run correctly, or without
sound and framerate stutters. Many can't get it to run at all.. and some
can't even get the game to install from the DVD in the first place.. These
problems go a long way in destroying any sense of immersion. If you have had
no problems at all with steam, and you have silky framerates and smooth
sound, you're lucky.

Out of the 3 big games that hit this year(DOOM3, HL2, HALO2), I have to say
that the best experience overall is handed to Halo 2. Totally kick a.s
online and offline, smooth running the whole way through, beautiful, FUN,
and co-op!! Game of the Year.

Correct me if I am wrong but Halo 2 is for the X-box only... so there are
not an infinite number of configurations. There is actually only one, so
Halo 2 runs perfectly.

I have a nice computer (P4 2.66 / 512 Mo / Radeon 9600 pro) and experienced
absolutely no problem (it is smooth). But for those who want to play with
their old 486... it just doesn't work (lol).

Anyway, Valve should have put less effort on the beauty of the game and more
on the scenario. Maybe they do better on HL3 ?

Perhaps you would like this game better?

Hell, if you`re going to suggest a Tetris variant to someone, go for the
best one of all - Tetris Pro - will need WinUAE to run it though, as it
was originally written for the Amiga :-)

I`ve got it ready for download here - select it as the boot floppy, and
it should auto-run
