nice to see another smooth game release by Vivendi/valve this time ;-)
My steam purchased version works great so far abeit that i have to download
content as i get to it as HL2 only takes up 800 odd MB on my HD. Had an ATI
voucher for it. Is there a timedemo for HL2 or what`s the command for
showing FPS? I know CS:S has a stress test but does HL2? As for your reg
probs, the steam version seems to require you to be online all the time too.
Never had a slow connection tho. Must just be me :-)

You don't have to be online with the steam version of HL2, just disconnect
and start Steam in offline mode..

I've been trying to find out how to set it to offline mode.  Could someone
give the string of buttons used to set it?
Thanks!

Here's how I did it.  Make sure Steam is set to save your name and password.
Exit Steam while connected to the internet.  Do not log out of Steam.
Disconnect from the internet.  Start HL2.  A message will pop up saying
Steam can't access and gives you the choice to go into offline mode.  Select
it and then the game loads.

An easier way : Don't start Steam with windows. Disconnect or don't connect
to internet. Start Steam, choose offline mode when Steam complaing not
finding internet.
