Half Life 2 - Stuck Nova Prospekt

I'm playing Half-Life 2 (Orange Box) on the X-Box 360. Just came out of the
sewers to Nova Prospekt. Attacked by a gun ship - hid under the awning and
shot it 3 times. Looked around for more rockets and a second gun ship
appears. No matter what I try, I cannot beat those two gunships. A friend
of mine who played it on the PC tried also several times and gave up. I
have been stuck here for the last 2 months.

Please help!!! Is there a cheat on the 360 to get by this? Can someone send
me a saved game past that point?

I am really enjoying this game and would like to continue.

I am playing on a PC platform, but suspect the basic game is the same. You
can not beat the gunships from under that awning. If the building is at your
back, you need to continue around the building to your left. You will come
to some stairs on your right. go up them and continue moving to your right.
You should find a crate of rockets. Mind you that this is a stiff fight, you
will have more than just the gunships to deal with. Using the Antlions (SP?)
for attack and diversion should help you through.

Antlions is correct. There's a trick to this: if you face the wall that has the rocket crate on the right, there's a niche at the left end of that wall. If you hide there, you're 80% covered from the gunships and can run out to attack them at your time of chosing (or to get fresh rockets).
