I played thru the game.
Today I started over again to explore more of the game. When I started HL2
steam updated it, and now my gfx is all f.cked!
I have tried to lower gfx settings, and set audio to low, but no go?

anyone else have this prob after update?

What are your system specs:

Mine are:

no problems here.

I copied this from another newsgroup:

You can undo the patch. All it basically does is to implement a
new variable named "mat_forcemanagedtexturesintohardware" and set it to
1. So, just put "mat_forcemanagedtexturesintohardware" "0" into your
autoexec.cfg (this file goes to $steam-dir\steamapps\half-
life2\hl2\cfg, obviously) and you are where you were before the patch
was installed.

If you do not have an autoexec.cfg, just create one.
