Having recently replayed the game, I have noticed the game keeps resetting
my sound to "2 speakers" mode for some reason. I normally set it to
"Surround speakers" (4.1).

I can re-adjust the settings to 4 speakers manually, and it seems to works
fine, but it bugs me that this happens again every time I load up the game.

My soundcard is a SB Audigy LS, BTW.

I've been looking around in the information database on Steampowered.com,
and the forums, but haven't found a mention of this so far.

Does anyone have experience with this? All help would be greatly
appreciated.

Not come across this before Lukas but I'll have a search for you.  Meanwhile
have you done the normal things like ensuring latest drivers (Creative have
an auto update feature), tried the mobo sound etc?  Have you verified the
GFC files to ensure there's nothing amiss in the HL2 installation?

Hi Shawk! Well, I'm sure I have the latest drivers (I did use the
auto-update feature on the Creative website)...

I haven't tried out the mobo audio drivers TBH.

Are you still checking the AGHL group?  Lithurge posted a potential solution
but didn't cross-post to the HL2 group

Ah, cool! Thanks, I'll check it out.

Sorry to get back to this after a million years, but I never managed to find
any synchronization option. BTW I am using a Dutch version of the Creative
software; maybe that has something to do with it..?

BTW I recently installed HL2: Episode 1, which at least does set the sound
to 4 speakers. Still not 4.1 but close enough. :-)
