Lame question - fixing sound stutter

This must be a lame question, but any tips on how to tweak the awful sound
problem away. I've got 2 Gb of Ram, a 2.4 Ghz CPU and an ok, not great
graphics card (all in a laptop).

There have been several patches issued by Steam to address this. If it's
still not resolved, check the forums at www.sterampowered.com and search for
stutter. I have seen some settings that may help.
