Is there any way to set up a controller, such as a Logitech Wingman
Rumblepad?  The only thing I seem to be able to do with it is look around
while on the hovercraft, using the left analog stick.  The Controls/Keyboard
mappings will not accept any inputs when I try to input movements/buttons on
the controller.

Thanks for any help

Do you have "Joystick" enabled in the controls setup?

Yeah, it is enabled, but like I said, it won't accept any inputs from the
controller when I try to map the keys/movements.

I saw a situation like this on my brother's computer.  The only way to map
keys on his joystick in HL2 was to start HL2 without the joystick.cfg file
in place.  I simply renamed it, started HL2, set up the keys, shut down hl2,
renamed the file back and then started HL2 again.  The joystick.cfg is so
the stick can be used for movements like strafing instead of turning.

Where can I find that file?  I did a search in the Valve directory, but it
came up empty.

Thanks for the help

You don't have one.  The file must be created by the user.  It does not come
with HL2.

You could try editing your config.cfg and adding bindings for the game pad
like this:

bind "JOY1" "+speed"
bind "JOY2" "phys_swap"
bind "JOY3" "+attack2"
bind "JOY4" "impulse 100"
bind "AUX5" "+reload"
bind "AUX7" "impulse 50"
bind "AUX29" "+duck"
bind "AUX31" "+zoom"

This is the joystick.cfg file that I created:

joy_name "Joystick"
joy_advanced 1.0
joy_advaxisx 3
joy_advaxisy 1
joy_forwardsensitivity -1.0
joy_sidesensitivity 0.5
joy_forwardthreshold 0.2
joy_sidethreshold 0.2

It works well with my Logitech Wingman joystick.

Well, I've played around with the settings in the joystick.cfg file and I
can get almost everything to work except the right analog stick and the two
triggers on the top of the joystick.

I am not sure what some of the raw commands are for my gamepad.  Like I know
that the 6 buttons are "JOY1 thru JOY6", but I can't figure out a few of
them.  If I had a list of all the functions for each button/analog stick, I
could probably figure it out.

Thanks for your help

Got it working.  I found a program called ControlMK, after a bit of fiddling
with the settings, everything works like I want it to.

Thanks for the help
