I just don't have a manual, just a small paper came with the game.

difference between cs and css
and what are these day of defeat etc, they talk about..

hasn't.

Valve is the game designer.

It means "Software Developer's Kit" : a tool to design one's own levels.

It's to diferenciate between HL and HL? environments/engines.
Actually, HL:S is HL (maps, plot, ...) using HL? engine...

CS stands for "Counter-strike", CS:S stands for "Counter-strike : Source".
CS is based on HL, CS:S is based on HL?. You need to have bought HL to run
CS and HL? to play CS:S - like any add-on.

"DOD" is like "CS" a game using HL and/or HL? engines.

And then there is TFC, Team Fortress Classic and Sven Co-op, etc, etc.
