How many missions must be done to unlock Staunton?  Is there a list that
would show what has to be done, and when?

Thanks
Buckaroo Banzai - 26 Jan 2004 19:55 GMT
Yeah, you have to finish the 5th and final mission for Salvatore Leone (Last
Requests) and then you'll have access to Staunton Island.... I'm not sure
the minimum missions required from the beginning as some are optional, and
some must be completed to further the storyline.

Thanks for your response!  We (wife) are very anxious to get to the other
islands.  I guess will just keep plowing through the missions.

The flying cars cheat will get you there, but dont save your game as you
wont be able to get back

Sure you can.  If you get busted or killed, you will automatically go back
to Portland.  However, there's a MUCH better way.  Take the tunnel or the
subway to get to Shoreside.  (the tunnel barrier is open if you get to the
2nd island before completing the requisite missions.)  Anyhow, once you get
to Shoreside, steal one of the Dodos from the airport.  You need to get it
back to Portland and deliver it to the garage at the docks.  If you know how
to fly it well, you're golden.  I don't, so what I do is take the plane back
to Staunton through the tunnel, and then it's an easy hop over the Callahan
Bridge to get back to Portland.  Deliver it to the docks as well as all the
other vehicles on the list. (All the others can be found in Portland, though
some are rare.  Doing Firetruck or Vigilante missions is the best way to get
them.)  Once you've collected everything, you will be able to get a free
vehicle of any of those types (including the Dodo) right from that garage
any time you want.  You can now just grab a Dodo and hop the bridge any time
you like to access the other islands without completing more than a few
missions.  (I think you need to get up to Van Heist in order to find a
Securicar for the garage, but that's it.)  All this, and you only have to
cheat once.  Or not at all if you have the patience to do the
force-yourself-through-the-gate trick at either the tunnel or the subway
station.

If you can get to Staunton early, you may be able to snag a Securicar
near the stadium.  That's where I got mine, and there were several.

Or in 'The Heist' use the method to get a BP scuricar and take that to
the import export garage then go back do the mission again to get a BP
Secirucar to keep and then finally completethe mission :-)

Yeah, but the tricky part is getting it back to Portland with the bridge
out.  The Securicar doesn't go fast enough to make it over the bridge very
easily.  Plus, it would mean you'd have to cheat at least 3 times.  Once to
get over to Staunton in order to get the Dodo, once to get back there to get
the Securicar, and a third time to bring the Securicar back...

Geez, it seems to me that with all this effort devoted to cheating it'd be
much easier just to do the few missions, which are very fun, I might add, to
gain access to the next island...

But it's so much fun using the Rocket Launcher on the early missions...  ;-)

Could anyone please tell me how to do this "force-yourself-through-the-gate
trick" (TM)
I am on a new game and would like to complete all the side missions before
starting on the plot missions.

I tried the trick where you jump from one girder of the broken bridge to a
girder on the other side.
I managed it once the first time I played but I just cant do it again.

I would like to know any trick to get to the second island early WITHOUT
using any cheatcodes.
I tried superjumping, but the one time I succeded the car exploded before I
could get out.

I dont think there is a way to do it without cheats.  If you want to try the
flying car over the bridge trick again, try using a taxi, thats the best
one.

These may seem a daft question, but did you try doing a running jump?
Works 100% for me, it's all in the timing, and obviously you jump a bit
further when running.

Cheers,
Rob

Easy way is just use cars jump (aka cars have hydraulics) code and the
cars fly (aka low car gravity) codes and fly a car over the gap.

Yes i use a running jump but i just cant seem to hit the girder properly.
When I do hit the girder I just bounce of it into the water.
How far from the last bend in the girder do you jump from? (aprox.)

There are some cheats that allow you to get over those barriers on the
Callahan Bridge - flying car, etc. - if you're into that kind of
thing.
