I lost the first Grand Theft auto Vice City cd that I had. I purchased
another one and loaded it into the PS2. When the game starts up, there
is a message stating that the data on the memory card is not
compatible. The game then starts from the beginning. I got the first
vice city cd shortly after it came out. I bought the new one last
week. Between those two time frames, have there been new versions of
vice city? Why can I not get access to the saved games with the new
cd?

I'm having similar problems but I don't get a compatibilty warning. The game
actually tries to load with my new disc but just hangs on the loading
screen.
It's annoying too because I had completed the game and was up to Made-Man on
my rating. Also was about to complete the game (93%) second time round with
all the special vehicles you can save. Not that I mind going through it all
again but it'll have to wait: I'm just starting my criminal career in
Liberty City...

Well, I've sent two e-mails to rockstar games support and they don't seem to
be able to respond. According to someone I talked to at bestbuy, as long as
it's the same game there should be no reason why I couldn't load the data
using a new CD. Did rockstar perhaps do something to prevent game data from
being copied on other memory cards?
