I'm working on the xbox version of GTA3, and I've gotten to Staunton
Island.  I'm stuck on Kenji's mission to steal all the cars and
Asuka's Payday for Ray mission.  I could go back to Portland, but I've
finished off Salvatore and to get any missions from El Burro, I have
to do the Diablo race (right?).

I am NOT good at driving fast. :)

Stealing Kenjiis cars was not a huge huge issue for me on this go
through (on the XBOX but this and the Pay Day for Ray made me stop on
the PC versions). Start with the one closest to the casino and then work
towards the pay n' spray- always swipe the Blista in the garage across
from the p n' s to get the best time. The last car is only about 45
seconds from the p n' s so it doesn't take much leeway to get it there.

Payday for Ray is a b!tch. The time limit is very, very slim and much of
the action is knowing the best routes to the phones. Figure out one
phone at a time- it means re-running the mission a few times. Also, be
sure you have the fastest wheels you can get a hold of. Finally, I think
where I screwed the pooch more times than not was not taking the
shortcut to the Liberty Campus phone (drive towards the Staunton Vale
bridge and when the road is blocked cut off road for the fastest way IIRC.

Overall, all the timed mission in GTA3 and VC are a bitch. The times
basically require a perfect run and knoweldeg of the "right" routes.
