I've just became the owner of my first gamepad, a Thrustmaster Firestorm
Dual Analog 2 for pc.  While it seems to work just fine in other games,
I can't get it to work in Vice City.  That is to say, I can walk around
just fine but only sidestep and not turn.  And when I enter a car, the
only thing I can do is turn left or right.  I can't go forward or
backwards.  I've tried to redefine the keys, but to no avail; somehow it
won't let me change them.

So far I haven't found help on the Vice City site and I've been unable
to download the software from Thrustmaster (a sort of Windows remap
thingy, according to the manual) as their site seems to be down.  I
don't know what to try next...  Does anyone know why this isn't working?

You have to set the controls to "classic" mode.
