Does anyone have a saved game just after completing Demolition man?
I've been trying forever and I cant do it.
Eugen T - 21 Nov 2003 03:48 GMT
Keep trying... Sorry don't have that save any more, but it took me like 15
times to do that mission...
Amount of joy is overwhelming :)

Just ignore it until you get practice time in the other helicopters.  You
need to have good control and a very light touch.

You can do it in time.

Absolutely.  Leave this mission alone until you've gotten access to the
full-sized copters -- which are MUCH more fun to learn to fly.  Get good at
flying them.  THEN try Demolition Man again.

For me, it was like magic: I did it first time, with a little time to spare,
and wondered why the hell I ever thought it was hard.  (It takes a lighter
touch, but the controls had become automatic.)  Then I did it a few more
times, just for fun.

Oh.  I have a PS2.  If it's a PC controls issue, then I don't know, but I
would think that the same advice should apply.  Fly the full-sized copters,
until it's automatic.

The controls for the PC version are Totally Impossible. It;s something
like: Numpad 9= throttle,  NP 1= rotate left, NP 2= Rotate right..

My fingers and brain can't hack it.

A gamepad is advisable for flying on the PC.

I found using the analogue stick on the gamepad easier for the rc missions
especially the helipcopter and plane ones. Keep trying you will get it
eventually and it feels so much better to beat the thing than nick someone
elses save game to get past a mission

I have tried a joystic but that means reconfiguring all the control
setups. Plugging in an analogue joystick causes all sorts
of mayhem.

Cripes.  It's hard enough on a PS2.

Patience, my friend. It's a very difficult mission for one reason: you haven't
got the hang of flying a helicopter. Once you've got it, you'll chop the
workers and guards into mince meat with the propellers and complete the mission
with two minutes to spare, trust me. I do this every time, and I'm not using a
gamepad, but a plain PC keyboard.

The keyboard is okay for land vehicles, but I prefer the joystick for the
copters. I still need up arrow for throttle, and 1/2 for spin left/right.
But it's managable with two hands.

this thing IS hard as hell.. but i'm getting closer.
how many times did you try before finishing?
is there a better strategy? can you fly in and kill guys first?
do you do the 4th floor first?

4th floor last, so you save the time having to come back down.

Bob

This mission was hard at first but the more times you do it, the easlier it
gets regarding flying the helicopter.
It took me about 5-7 times to get it

Whats a bitch is having those little construction workers banging on the
copter.

If you think this one is hard did you complete the RC Barons Race.? Now that
one was a real mother f.cker for me.

Finally set my head into it... and completed the mission. took about
5-7 tries, you're right...
It REALLY helps that the mission can be restarted just by going down
the street again... it sucks to restart one you have to go across town
for.

With a little skill (despite the crappy controls) you can actually
decapitate the workers using the RC copter's blades!

It takes a bit of time, so instead I would suggest decapping all the
guys in black who have guns, that way you sustain less damage.

Rob

Definitely

take your time flying around and chop up all the security guards and
construciton workers.

The timing only starts when you pick up the first bomb

Here are a few tips- Start the mission and don't even try to finish it- just
practice manuevering the copter... play around as long as it takes until you
can do basic manuevers without too much effort.  Next, when you feel
confident about the copter controls, start the mission but ignore the
workmen and the guys with guns- battling them will only damage your copter.
I focused on placing the bombs from the top floor down to the bottom but a
lot of people have commented that timewise it's better to start from the
bottom up... so you might want to do that.  If you don't know where each
target is on each floor, take one mission just to get to know where the bomb
drops are, once you are confident that you can control the bird and know
where to drop the bombs, you shouldn't have any problem.  I have to note
that I played VC on the PS2 so I had the luxury of an analog stick
controller, but I'm sure there are gamepads that you can use that will make
things easier...  GOOD LUCK!
Eugen T - 21 Nov 2003 05:20 GMT
Yeah, Bckaroo is right. It's better to place bottom three bombs (I put them
3-2-1), then go for the top one to save time, so that you won't have to come
back. I also found that there is no need in killing workers first; if
someone will really annoy you, then you can kill him with blades during the
mission. Shooting guards don't appear until, I believe, 3rd floor, so you'll
be pretty safe if you'll go to place 4th floor bomb last.
