Okay, I'm sick of the 2000 "whoo hoo!" and "100%" threads that have spread like bacteria.
I jacked another car the other day, and it was rusty(new texture?), but it had another
interesting aspect: misfiring engine. Every 20-30 seconds, the car would misfire, and
you'd see a brief flame shoot out of the exhaust.
Interesting emulation of cars. Never seen a "junker" car before in the GTA world. Would be
funny to see if they could apply the rusty paint skin & misfiring to something odd, like a
supercar.
Oh, and I must confess. I saw a guy just standing there admiring the view from the top of
a steep cliff. I pushed him off. :) Not even the ambulance could reach him.

I had that too. Could damage it so much that the engine would totally
break down. Niko tries to start it, prays, swears, but the car won't
move again. Nice touch.

The other day I spent five solid minutes trying to start a car I knew was dead, just so I could listen to
Niko plead and swear at it. It was quite amusing. :)

I didn't even bother with those junkers until i had to drive them during
missions for a certain friend of Niko. Wish i hadn't waited so long. I
laughed my a.s off ! Not only does it backfire a cloud of shizz, but the car
loses power for a quick moment before it does. Like the carb is loading up.
Can't remember if it backfires when flying along, or just under
acceleration. I want to say under acceleration.
Somebody at R* loves cars. They did a great job with them. The learning
curve on the SUV's and old RWD cars was fun, and i still forget i'm driving
one now and then by slewing past my turn in point. D'oh !

it's an overloading carb problem. It appends when you hit the full gas
while your motor is on low rpm.

In GTA: San Andreas there were at least two beaten up Glendale cars
with their own seperate attributes. The cars were smashed up and ran
worse than normal Glendales, and even a Pay'n'Spray visit wouldn't fix
them.
One of these Glendales was considered a "Ghost Car" as you'd often
arrive in the area to see it rolling along on it's own (The truth is:
the car spawned on a slant).
Cheers,
Rob

I think the difference here is the cars in the scrap yards etc. If you
take a look they are the shells of real cars in the game, easily
recognisable, whereas in previous games they have just been
indiscriminate lumps.
My favourite Jalopy is the huge old cadilac looking things. They're
four door and if you look around you'll see there are a number of
different grades of damage, from full on missing wings and rust to
rubbed down paintwork.
You get a few jalopies when delivering for Jacob, not that you'll
always want to be driving them :O)

Jacob is an interesting person, but those timed delivery missions
really got on my nerves. What's the damn hurry anyway?
