I was popping into me safe house when a cop runs past chasing a bad
guy. Normally at the most you see them stood still with the cop
pointing a gun at the baddie, but this time a squad car was nearby and
the cop actually put him in the back of the car and it drove off. I
think this is the first time I've seen this happen and it is a nice
little detail.

I actually used the 911 cop-calling feature to get cops to kill all the
enemies on one of the missions. The funny thing is that I still got a 2-
star wanted level (must have been scripted) once the baddies were all
dead, despite not even equipping a weapon the entire time.

yeah, sounds the same as happened to me. is it the one where you trail
the guy to the house in a car?

After nearly an hour of unsuccessful attempts at making fake fart noises,

Yeah. He takes a path through mostly alleys and yards, and then has a
bunch of friends to help defend him at his safehouse. The mission already
felt like kind of a "what if the main character in GTA was your enemy"
type mission, so I decided to take it to the next level and let him feel
some heat. Then I was all "WTF!?" when I, an innocent spectator, got 2
stars.

yep, I was just as shocked as you. I actually was just standing in the
road too, though luckily I had been using a cop car to call
reinforcements so it was standing next to me with doors open when the
wanted stars sprang up.

Nice little detail indeed. I used to notice this during my first gaming
session when I knocked on a waiting car at an intersection. The (very
aggressive) driver left the car, chased me and was eventually arrested
by some cops standing nearby.

What I really hate though is the general aggressiveness of peds in this
game. Is this supposed to mimic New York City or Berlin?

Interesting. I've seen the arrest sequence once too. I wonder if you
can get the good citizen award like in Vice City?

I also noticed that the cops aren't shy about coming into your
safehouse any more, if you have a wanted level. Except if you go to
bed, then everything is forgiven again :)

I'm sure someone said they got a wanted level when they shot the
runner.

yeah, I started using it as a quick recharge for my shotgun early on,
get them to chase you and plug them as they come in the door. :O))

I think the same was true of Vice City.  Knocking the perp down with your fists = reward but shooting him
= you in big trouble, boy.

I kinda missed that in subsequent games.  It was a good, reliable, and ironic way of making some easy
cash early on.

Afraid not, I tried & that ingrate of a cop came after me! Naturally I made
him pay for his lack of gratitude. :D

hey, I'm wokkin here! :O)

I did a silly thing last night as I headed back to my safe house on
foot. this fat cop was standing on the corner so I got Niko to nudge
him and of course he swears, so I walked past again and let Niko bump
him again and he says next time he will do something about it, so of
course I couldn't resist a challenge and damn if he didn't pull his
gun and I got a one star level!

I just saw this a few days ago in front of Niko's Bohan hideout. One cop
leading the bad guy at gunpoint over to the Crown Vic with 2 cops in the
front seat. The bad guy gets in the car, and i expected the car to take off,
but no. The cop on foot runs down another baddie, and leads him back to the
car too.
Once the back seat was filled, the cruiser took off leaving the cop to
continue his spree alone.
Seems like a high spawn point for cops chasing bad guys.

Next time i see them busting a bad guy(s), i'm going to follow the cruiser
and see if they take him to a station.

actually it was the same place I saw mine so yeah, looks like your
spawn theory is correct. I think they just take them off behind
something and shoot them :O)

I had a good one.

I was doing the "Most Wanted" missions and had parked a policecar in my
reserved spot outside the Bohan safehouse.
When I exited the safehouse a cop busted some punk and started to put him in
the back of my parked policecar!
I was having none of that so I got in and drove off with the perp still in
the back.
He was screaming to get out so I stopped to let him out.
He immediately gets out and pulls me out of the car and picks a fight.
So I punched him square in the face which earns me a * from the cop I left
behind (he was still chasing me on foot) and I end up busted!

funny :) i noticed that a cop put a busted person in the first police
car he can reach, but didn't realize that this police car could be yours.

heh heh. ace. I stole a car with some bloke in the back and when I
stopped at some lights to let him out he came round and dragged niko
out. I was so busy laughing I almost got killed.
