[GTA:VCS] High Wire - ARGH!!!

12th freakin' try I *finally* managed to snag the car, which was at about
3/4th health, despite the wind which was strong enough to make going
northeast next to impossible (had just reached where it turns east and then
south onto Ocean Drive).  I had a *LOT* of trouble getting any height
heading towards the car park.  I reached the car park.  I hovered and kept
X pressed to very slowly rise.  Suddenly the copter burst into flames for no
apparent reason.  No tracers or gunfire noises, so it wasn't ground fire.
Didn't look like I was touching anything and there were no sparks or noises
from the rotors (which I've gotten *VERY* familiar with over the last hour
or so :/).

This one was a huge pain.  The only way I finally did it was to get ahead
of him enough so that I could drop the magnet on his windshield and have it
scoot backwards and go flat on the roof.  I kept dropping the magnet on the
roof, but we were moving forward so much that it was angled and wouldn't
stick.

As for the chopper, I'd bet on a light pole or something, unless you grazed
a building that you didn't see on the way in.  It seems to me in VCS that
the chopper is quieter about taking damage than in previous titles.

I remember this mission being very bad for your mental health. I played
it on the PSP, and I nearly smashed the device in pure agony!

I think the solution to this was to wait for it to drive on the
east-most road along the beach, and set yourself up there in advance, in
the right position. It will then drive under your magnet, and it should
activate. The height you're hovering at is crucial here. If it misses,
chasing it is futile because you'll never keep up properly :/ The only
chance you have is perhaps having 2 attempts at snagging the bastard.
Once on that road along the beach, and, if you're quick enough, before
that, on the parallel road to the west (before the u-turn).

Good luck..

That's what I did after say, 3 tries.
Didn't bother going to where he was driving around.
Just headed for the one end of the beach road IMMEDIATELY.
This is near the old PCJ Playground starting point in VC.

You may have that part memorized already after a few tries,
he goes the same way everytime.

Actually you can arrive at that corner, the north end before the bend,
SO early, and actually have time to head up the street they are coming
down and intersect, land right on top. Head straight up in the air.

Otherwise I don't think I would've had a shot.
You have to be RIGHT there when he drives by, or early.

Tough mission, but there are harder in this game.

Hm yeah, at least the first part with the car chase is :/

If you want to go for extreme frustration, try that part on a bike! Any
bike! It seems like a good idea, what with all the easy targeting. But
DAMN will it get frustrating if someone slams into you!

I don't recall having an actually working method that worked most of the
time. Even when switching to bullet-proof cars it was still a b*tch :/

Actually that is *exactly* how I passed.
The PCJ by the tree. That's why it's there.
I had to figure that out the hard way.

Shoot driving forward. At all the marked cars.
Flame them all up!

Once you get to Malibu, make a dash for the BP Empire car.
The best is either Turbo Sabre or Polaris V8.
(Robbery/Prostitution)

Then it's just a matter of drive-by each marked car,
and make it to the bridge entrance.
Seems that starts the cutscene no matter where Lance is behind you.

With a BP car, no one outside the mansion can even touch you.
Drive-by on the car(s) blocking entrance.
Maybe grab armor at the film studio,
because you can take damage from being on the bike.

Head to the mansion backyard , maybe take out 1-2 guys with M249.
Thanks to being flame-proof, with extended health + armor,
and near infinite ammo on the red balloon M249,
killing that puto Mendez is nothing. Lock on, 2 seconds.

Funny how they added the camera view from the
Chainsaw Massacre in LCS, but here, you've got it made.
They definitely could've made that battle harder. 2 easy.

The frustrating part is the beginning, no matter what you
drive or fly in, no matter where you stash your vehicle.
You're on foot. I think the longer Vic *remains* on foot,
dictates the health loss of Lance, directly proportionate.

Same here. The first time I attempted this mission I used the Infernus
parked at Lance's house. Lance has that annoying thing of driving in
between you and the vehicle you're shooting at, plus the Infernus is
probably the most flimsy car when it comes to bullets.

I still had my PCJ, missing both tyres *and* billowing dark grey
smoke....just as I made it to the bridge to trigger the cutscene.

I could understand it if people found it hard without doing the Fire
Fighter missions to become flameproof though.

That is one of my favourite GTA missions, pretty much for the novelty.
VCS has quite a few quirky missions like that, more intricate than SA I
think.

I'm sure I noticed something similar, seems a bit unfair really after
the enemies have shot you to sh.t, the only thing you want to do is
nick a vehicle and catch up - and the traffic prompty disappears! aargh!

Cheers,

Kudos to you! I hated the thing. Sure it's easy for targetting, but you
fall off too damn easily when being slammed into. And when you try to
get back up on it, they're standing next to you, ready to knock you off
right again. It boiled my blood :/

Yeah, I didn't do that. I tried to do the entire route by bike. Perhaps
that was not such a good idea. Only later I figured I could switch to
one of those cars, but by then I had given up on the bike altogether.

I did notice though, that Lance's car health dropped fast enough to
usually run out before I managed to get to the bridge (trying to
completely ignore all the shooting and just trying to make a run for
it). A shame, that. Would have been an easy way out.

Car? All you have to worry about is Lance's *actual*
health, on his Freeway bike. That really only poses a
problem when he gets in the direct line of fire,
when you are shooting forward on the PCJ.
I hate Lance. L0L

It's been a long while. I remember fighting against a decreasing bar of
some kind, and thought he was driving a car.

Well, one of my strategies was to try and speed to the bridge, totally
ignoring Lance and all the other drive-by bastards. Sadly, this doesn't
work as they always *will* kill Lance just before you make it :/

i hated the High Wire when you had to pick up the guy(forget his name) and
the reason you might have caught fire is because on the second part of the
mission you might have hit the building to get the crate(everytime is went
to pick up the crate i hit the building)
