You'll only have to repair it. I've never left a damaged site alone for
very long, so I don't know whether or not an opposing gang does take it
back over if you leave it too long.
Whilst it's damaged, you won't get any empire earnings from it, so it's
worth repairing them if you've got a lot damaged.
By the way, set them all to prostitution when you first take them over
and then robbery when you've opened the second island. This will ensure
that you get the most amount of money at all times.
Cheers,
Rob

Just make sure that you at some stage develops high-roller versions of the
other businesses as well.
If you don't you won't unlock the associated outfits and will fall short of
100%

Good. That means I can blitz the Sharks' holdings and then go back and
start repairing once I've got all 30. Of course, the downside is that I'm
only at "High Wire" (ARGH! 8 failures so far! :( and "Kill Phil" (such a
counter-intuitive mission - I mean, *protecting* Phil Collins? Makes no
sense... :P) so that'll be a long time of the Sharks making it next to
impossible to drive anywhere. Took ages for the Bikers to stop appearing
every time I stepped out of the safehouse after taking their last property.
:)

Eh. The money's not much of a concern - unless there's something I *HAVE*
to have a lot of cash for later on that I don't know about? Currently have
more than $600k... I'd much rather have the Sabre Turbos all over the place
for when I need a ride after, of course, the game steals my ride at the
start of a mission. :)

Phil Collins deserves all he gets. You wouldn't believe how many times
I capped 'im in the head before I completed the mission.....

When you have all 30, any vehicles outside your empire sites become
bulletproof, oh yes.
Those Landstalkers are surprisngly flimsy, even despite being BP.

I thought that was only when you had all 30 and have done all the
missions? [I'm useless - stuck at Smuggling 2 and Robbery 3. Drug Running
was easy, though...]

Well, Landstalkers have never been particularly robust in any of the
games.

Whee. Blitzed the Sharks' 6 empire buildings in one go, not even
bothering to save between them thanks to that handy new (and very, VERY
underpriced) feature of being able to buy back your weapons after being
wasted/busted, running into maybe 3 gangs of them between the attacks. After
I got the last building, there was one more attack on one of my empires and
one more attack on me in the street.
Haven't heard from them since, even while cruising the streets for around
a (real) half-hour after repairing the 5 or 6 damaged buildings I had,
trying to put off having to do "High Wire" (took another 3 tries before I
finally got it :) and "Kill Phil" (I have moral objections to keeping Phil Collins
alive :P). [on the plus side, I finished "Home's On The Range", Gonzales'
first mission, on the first shot of my first try, which was quite
unexpected - but damn them for forcing you to drive a Pony for "Purple
Haze"! :P]
