SA (PC) driving camera position

I don't recall doing anything specifically on the old PC to configure the
camera behaviour, but the close-up camera (above and behind the car) would
stay pretty much in the same position, and would return there quickly in the
event of a hard manoeuvre such as a handbrake turn.

On the new PC, the camera takes an awful long time to return to this
position, and I'm constantly having to blip the "look left" key* to reset it
to the position I want. For example, a right-angle left turn means the
camera ends is tracking the car from its left side, returning to
above/behind after several seconds.

Anyone know why it's quicker on the old PC? What did I change? There's
nothing of help within the manual (but that's no surprise). It's possible
that I've yet to see a message telling me how to set the reaction time (I've
still not met Sweet) but I don't recall it from first time around.

During the camera slow-return period, does motion become choppy and
discontinuous?

I have that problem when flying the Hydra through the dense clouds. My video
card (ATI Radeon 9000) isn't up to the task, and so the video "stutters".

If that's what you see when the camera exhibits this slow return behavior,
then maybe your new PC's video card is not adequate.

The GTA games are not the **most** resource-hungry of video games, but they
do require a better than average video card.

Thanks for replying... The old card (which worked quicker) was an AGP
Parhelia with 128MB. The new one is a PCI-E ATI Radeon 1600 with 256MB.
Admittedly, the old card had the settings quite low, and the new one is
maxed out, but apart from that, the new one is performing much better.

I think I may have found the problem. The mouse is sending an ever-so-slight
movement signal back to the PC. It's not enough to notice except when zoomed
in with a rifle. I think that the slight quiver is enough to prevent the
view from moving by itself. Will report back when I've tried it with a
different mouse.

Thats your problem........you have a PCI-E card jammed in an AGP
slot.............
