Hi group,

I just recently got Vice City, and was wondering whether it is possible when
saving the game, to store my car/motorbike in a garage like in GTA3. its
getting really annoying having to steal a car every time i boot up the game.

thanks,
lisa

There are several properties around the city which have garages.  You
need to get enough cash together and purchase the properties.  The
garages can store various numbers of vehicles.  Not all of the
properties have garages.

Yes, you can store cars in garages (if you own the garage property).

Also, there's a cheat program available that will let you store any car in
any garage. You can even choose the car colors. And the garage contents are
saved when you save your game.

And this cheat program also lets you store and load garage configurations at
will.

There's a not too expensive one quite close to your safe house. The
club you drop the colonel's daughter off at on the first real mission,
it's at the other end of the short street. there are some broad steps
up to the save marker and the garage is to the left of those steps.
It's only a single vehicle one if I recall properly, you don't get
multi vehicle ones til you open the other islands.

If I recall, they are about $10K each. There's one south of your default
savegame point (Ocean View). There's are two more near the (currently)
blocked bridge at the golf club north of Ocean View. Each will take just one
car, but with creative parking can take two.

Don't bother buying them just to store cars, though - it's easier to steal
them. Use them for unique cars, like Diaz's bulletproof admiral.

When you get to the first Diaz mission, kill him before the "bad guys"
appear, then steal and agarage his car. Rinse, and repeat until your three
garages are full. This damage proof (can still be destroyed by overturning
or fire attacks such as molotovs) car is really useful for the side mission
where you have to crash that woman in her Comet, and the story mission where
you have to follow that BF Injection without "engaging it" to find the
hideout. You can follow as closely as you want, because your car isn't going
to be damaged by the informer who keeps shooting at you.

OK it's not the sexiest car in the game, but it's d*mn useful.

There are many maps of Vice City available on the net. One showing the
safe house locations is at
http://gtawarehouse.com/vc/maps/properties.JPG. The ones marked with
an S are safehouses and the one closest to the hotel is "Ocean
Heights".

(This is from memory....)

The properties you can purchase all have names and are listed in the
stats as "Properties Owned". It's actually part of the 100% completion
requisite to own all of them, as well as being handy save spots.

I think there's a properties guide on Gamefaqs.com that could  be very
helpful for finding the others, but the ones with garages are:

East island:

1. Find the northern-most hospital (In Vice Point I think) and go south.
It's the nice looking villa-style building.

2. Find the nearby Pay'n'Spray (Again it's the most northern one).
Directly south of that is an apartment building with a place you can
  buy.

3. Look on your map for the southernmost AmmuNation. It's on a two lane
road, just to the east of that is another road. The property is at
the very south end of that road.

Starfish Island:

1. After taking over the Diaz mansion, the garage becomes freely
available as part of the Vercetti Estate. You'll have to play through
the storyline missions to get it though.

West Island:

1. The Hyman Condo can be purchased as soon as you get to the west
island (Again, storyline mission completion will unlock it). Find
the huge Hyman Stadium in the north-west of the island. The road
going east out of the area has an alleyway opposite that leads to
the house purchase marker. I can definitely recommend buying this
early on the west island as it has four garages that can each hold
  three or four vehicles.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,
Rob

One thing I forgot to mention (Well, two).

The garages behave in exactly the same way as in GTAIII, meaning you
can take advantage of storing more vehicles than you're supposed to,
typically three or more in only a two capacity.

In case you don't know, the game treats bikes as being the same size as
cars, so although you have room to store 10 in a garage, the game won't
let you.

Be warned that some garages like to "eat" vehicles if it's overstuffed.
I wouldn't advise storing any special (ie: bulletproof) cars in an
overstuffed garage. I did the same in San Andreas and lost my
everything-proof Admiral :o(

Finally, believe it or not you can store boats in garages, although
there are more than enough boats to nick dotted around Vice City. Just
thought I'd mention it. In GTAIII it's possible to save the 'Ghost
Missing' boat in a garage to restore it (It's a unique boat that only
appears once and often get's blown up).

Cheers,
Rob

Where did that come from?

That's a new one on me. Have to go look for that...
Rob White - 21 Jan 2007 12:41 GMT
> Where did that come from?

In the mission "Los Sepulcros" you're supposed to gate crash a Ballas
funeral that's taking place.

1. Grab a Tow Truck and store it in a nearby garage.

2. Start the mission and drive over to the cemetary. Park the Tow Truck
  near the Admiral.

3. Simply shoot any of the Ballas gang members standing around to fail
  the mission.

4. Hook up the Admiral and tow to a safehouse garage.

Yup, it really is that easy! There are different methods for getting it
but this is by far the easiest. If you do do a Cleve 'Messing With The
Missions' experiment be warned that if Sweet gets in to the car at any
point of the mission it will lose it's proofing.

> That's a new one on me. Have to go look for that...

In the mission "Paparazzi Purge" you have to chase and kill a reporter
who's giving too much attention to Asuka.

When you chase him, providing he's taken enough damage (Using the
Predator boat's mounted machine guns) he'll eventually beach himself on
Portland Beach near the Lighthouse.

After this, you'll need to spawn a Rhino and push it to your safehouse.
This can take anything up to half an hour so be patient. It will just
about fit in your Portland garage. You won't be able to take it to
Staunton Island as the game needs to load data before you get there; in
the process it will delete your boat from memory.

If all that seems like too much of a kerfuffle, simply jump on the boat
when it's beached and press the enter vehicle button/key. The name
'Ghost Missing' will still appear despite the vehicle being blown up!

Btw, has anyone noticed that in GTAIII, VC and SA the Squalo models are
numbered 1 to and 3 respectively?

Cheers,
Rob
