LCS: Hidden package on under construction building?

It's just looking at me, right above the sealed off entrance thing. I
tried jumping from the tracks to the higher part of the building, no dice.

What's the trick? A guide said to jump from the rubble building across
the street. That's my next thing to do.

And I can't seem to get enough velocity to make the jump to get to the
buildings in the well guarded/protested area.

In Hepburn Heights construction yard?
(Where an early mission, and an RC race are located)

If you haven't finished the mission "Blow-Up Dolls", you can't get
that package, a unique jump, or a sniper rifle spawn just yet.

I'll check back with your progress, see if you are past that,
or want spoilers.

But yeah, you'll be able to get it.

(same person here, different account).

I finally completed "Blow up Dolls" and "Smash & Grab", so now the
wrecked building has provided me with the ramp. I've tried numerous
times to make that jump, but I always end up a couple feet short. I
admit I'm a bit rusty with GTA after not having played it for awhile,
but I'm getting back into it well.

With the PCJ jump(to the building), how long do you need to ease the
stick slightly where your player "ducks down" for more speed? Do you
have to do it just before the jump, or do it during the whole riding
phase?

I made a bit more progress last night with the hidden package quest.
After taking a 1 day break, I tried again on a whim to PCJ jump onto
the gas station, and I did it! I never thought I would nail that jump.
I tried again on the docks for that end-building HP. I was able to make
the jump once, landing on the first building. Of course, I had no luck
doing an on-foot jump to the 2nd one. From now on, it's all bike.

But, after a bit of goofing off with a Sanchez  at the docks area, I
was able to pull of a rooftop-to-rooftop jump with it. Guess it's like
learning to ride a bike again.

Of course, I ran into the same situation I did with gang sign finding
in SA. You have X HPs crossed out on your printed map, but the game
says you have X-3 HPs found. Ugh.

I'll try replying from work (Google Groups) as Synch.
Hope this works, if not, I'll catch up with you later at home.

For the jump you need to get all the way back to Ammu-Nation.
Push forward slighty for the extra speed, almost the entire run-up.
Then pull the forks up, while in the air.
You want to clear both the tracks, and the roof.
That is the difficult part, first speed, then AIR straight up, then
landing on the roof.

If you can, land the bike and stop immediately.
Crashing is okay just get up there.
If the the bike stammers on the edge, jump off it and onto the roof.
The main goal here is the package first, UJ second.
(You can always do the jump later)

You'll need to get on that roof and study the area.
There are steps going up to an upper level,
which is where a sniper rifle spawns.
Near there is a drop off, directly on top of the package beam area.
This may of course, take a few tries.

Also, the drop will cause Toni to lose health.
So, you'll want to replenish that first before re-attempting.

But you are definitely in the right area, and I think you would have
gotten it by now, it's just that the cutscene for the Unique Jump
is at an inadequate time, as you can't physically monitor where you are
going to land.
====
About the gas station package, yeah the jump is one way.
I've heard of others stacking up vehicles but the jump
from the junkyard is the way I got it both of my 100% games.
Another theory is from the bomb shop dirt road,
hit the concrete wall by the gas station and you'll go flying.
I never managed to fly far enough, but landed on face plenty of times.
==
The docks is well, yeah, all bike. There are actually a few out there,
only the one is hard to get. Similarly, the one jump right there
can be a killer as well, landing in the ocean. I used the Bickle Taxi
for many many jumps, and of course most of the races.
The UJ is the ramp *underneath* the HP rooftop jump,
and should be landed on the beach facing the Don's place.

One thing I liked about LCS is the placements of things,
not just spawns, but hidden packages, rampages and things.....
Compared to what was there in GTAlll.
The Shoreside Vale safe house......in GTAlll was where the RPG spawned.
Things like that. For another topic though.

Great job on getting that damn gas station package!
Now good luck with the construction site. :)

There is a better way of getting the gas station package. Get an ambulance
and reverse it on to the wall at the northern side of the gas station so
it's angled up and pointing backwards at the roof. You can then jump onto
the ambulance and run along the top of it before jumping onto the garage
roof. I'm sure this is mentioned somewhere on one of the gamefaq guides but
i can't find it. Works every time for me, took a few goes to get it right
first though.

Gotcha. I realized I can't just go back from a linear distance from th
ramp(at some fancy-a.s store). I actually backed up far enough to that
narrow light-colored alley for maximum distance.

This of course introduces a new problem to the jump. People & car
traffic. Other jumps(as far as I know) have zero people/vehicle traffic.
I've hit a few pimps & cars by mistake. I once even got stonewalled by
the subway!

That's the funny part. You're in the double "stunt view" and everthign
slows down, making my triangle button hit(to dismount) rather late.

I think I know I'm on the right track if it goes into the 2nd stunt view
mode. That's my cue to angle the bike right. And many-a times I've had
the bike in a way-wrong angle.

I tried the ambulance, and didn't have enough distance to jump. Running
jumps(especially on short distances) aren't my specialty.

My next mission is to pass that stupid "Hot Wheelz". Great, another 3
star wanted level mission with spikes-a-hoy! I'll shoot for the docks
police bribe and see what happens.

My friend recommended a rubber band to tighten up the play on the left
analog stick. Not the first time for a hardware solution. Everyone's
heard the pocket knife trick for track & field, and the analog stick
rubber band locking for endurance races in Gran Turismo. :)

Ugh.  That camera is *EVIL*.  Makes it completely impossible to see where
you're heading so you can know what corrections to make on subsequent
attempts when you fail.  Luckily, I have no life so was able to get it after
an hour and a half's work. :/

People have trouble with this?  I just ram through the cars, hang a right
(south), then right again up between Bitchin' Dog Foods (whatever it is in
LCS - gratuitous landmark renamings suck :) and Joey Leone's garage, turning
right to go up past the police station & hospital, left-right-left to get
into the Red Light District and the north side of the subway station.  Then
an immediate right (on the east side of the building that will have
breakable windows on the lower floor in GTA3), first left, then left
again to go into the Pay & Spray.  Been through the game 3 times now and
it's only taken me twice in each to pass the mission. :)

Good news. I nailed the 3-buildings in the docks area HP. As a bonus, I
found one in the really tall building next to a vent near it. It was one
I forgot.

See my next thread about it. :)
