Keith H - 05 Nov 2006 21:56 GMT Try to drive from the top of Las Venturas to any corner of the map without getting a scrape on your car. You may drive as fast or as slow, as careful or as careless as you like.
I've never been able to achieve it once. It's impossible I tell ya!!

It seemed easy enough on the PC - I got about a half of the export cars to the ship without a scratch. Of those, I got half up the ramp without a scratch (except the roadtrain, which needs the crane) meaning I got full revenue for them.

It makes you think about whether you really need car doors, whereas considering respray costs, the later versions do not - you get a respray just to get your car looking nice.
* It seems OK - but the disembodied limbs are making me wonder if the language fears are enough. Was there ever a "wusses" GTA - for Australia, perhaps?

I think the first game is pretty tame for just about everything, except it's harder to aim, easier to die and I really hate listening to the made up music. The handling is cracked but at least it's fun. I just managed to get onto the second island, though I am playing it alongside SA and have it set to classic controls, so i keep pressing the wrong buttons all the time. It seems so easy to get your car to go from pristine to on fire :O)

Lucky for you that there's more than just HEAD & LIPS on the radio, eh? :) Personally, I find the in-house music in GTA3 & LCS very listenable. In terms of quality, all it has against it is lack of name value, and perhaps the humor in some of the tunes...

To me it was pure paradise when VC came along. I don't mind talk radio and the ads, but all that "chuff chuff anna yayo" or whatever that stupid broad sings just does my head in. Yeah, there was a slight interest in humour but that wore off quickly and now like most manufactured pop it does me head in.

I thought the music of GTAIII was quite good. I've liked Craig Conner and Julie Wemyss for ages, so it was quite a surprise to hear them on the radio. Even K-Jah and that electronic one was listenable (Is that a real word?).
"Change" remains one of my favourite GTA songs to date (Anyone interested in the full version can visit MySpace for their homepage URL with free downloads).
> Yeah, there was a slight interest in humour but that wore off quickly > and now like most manufactured pop it does me head in. Chatterbox is excellent. The first thing I did when I got MFAudio was convert that to a WAV file, mp3 it and burn it to a CDR.
I lent a copy to my nan who likes to have the radio on as background noise and she loved it. She didn't know it was a spoof until I told her!

Unlike other online stores I have never had any kind of problem with Play. When I was getting paid every friday with my old agency I used to go on and order books and things, and they'd be delivered by monday or tuesday. Their non-sale prices make you wonder how they're making any money!

I didn't think GTAIII got many rereleases, not when compared to the other games. Is this something they changed for the double pack, XBox and PC versions?
And yes, the Aussie version was censored, they even took out the prossies which makes Misty's presence kinda weird.

Yes, in Australia it is censored for blood and sexual content which means no hookers. Language is not censored on any edition of GTA in any country.
The german edition of GTA (Which you can enable by selecting the german edition in the language settings) has no blood. Other than that it seems to be just the same as the other versions.

It's the reason I never bother to mod any of my cars. It's not a game that's very friendly to pimping your ride as you can never keep them long enough unless you hoard them away and don't ever even dare drive them.
Hey now there's something to keep you entertained for an hour or two. Try and keep hold of the same ride the entire time! ;-)

You're right that it's difficult keeping cars looking new in SA. However, my main ride in SA (wherever I can get a hold of one) is a fully modded huntley - NOTHING combines speed, handling & off-roadability as well as a pimped huntley. Plus they look great.
Anyway, I've pretty much become an expert at keeping one 'alive' for hours at a time (pretty much necessity 'cause they're very rare).
Though, while they may survive a while without scratches, they do look filthy after a few miles off-road (drat those non-working car washes!). 'Spose it depends if dirty is also considered 'damaged' or not. =)

The XBOX controller is more likely to be your issue, at least to the tipping as I have heard other people mention that they seem to be able to tip tall vehicles more easily on the XBOX and it would appear that there appears to be less refined control in the XBOX controller.
How easily or not you tip your vehicle or come off your motorbike is governed by your driving skill and riding skill. The lower they are the more likely you are to tip or come off your ride.
Increasing your driving/riding skill distributes the weight more evenly across the axis of your vehicle, increases steering response times fractionally (Which makes split second steering changes quicker and hence give you the impression that your response has improved as your driving skill has gone up) along with a few other small refinements.
Of course if your driving/riding skill is maxed out you might want to consider the controller issue.

It is a slower controller, if you get my meaning, which makes it good for some things and bad for others. Aiming is probably better, but quick movements are not always as good. At the same time it seems precise enough. I wonder if it could even be to do with using the triggers for forward and stop? I definitely think braking at high speeds is complete lock-up
> How easily or not you tip your vehicle or come off your motorbike is > governed by your driving skill and riding skill. The lower they are the > more likely you are to tip or come off your ride. Yeah, i think what is happening here is I am so used to my ld ps2 setup, where I have everything as high as possible at the start, that I am rushing things on the xbox version.

I have a couple of others, both third party and they all have their advantages. Their big disadvantage is their left right etc is fast and can be too fast, makes precision more difficult.

Heh. Not as often as you might think. Mostly because I spend a lot of my riding time on sidewalks, dividers, and other places cars don't generally go. Yes, I get cut off frequently, especially when I go through intersections, but I've learned to expect it, and can often zip around them. It also helps to have 100% bike skill. In all the other GTAs, you can get unhorsed (unbiked?) just going over a curb too fast, but in SA it sometimes feels like your butt is superglued to that seat.
Anyway, the statement wasn't about how well I stay on the bike, but how long I can keep the bike before its destroyed. The answer is quite a while, because bikes can take a lot of abuse, and they're small and manueverable so I can avoid crashes that would be inevitable in a car. So long as I know where the nearest pay n spray or safehouse garage is, I can keep the bike as long as I want. And even without that help I can hang onto a bike for a surprisingly long time.

I always pimp at least one Remington, after my main gameplay is finished in an area and I see one passing. So I grabs one up in SF, drives quickly but reasonably carefully, only blasting it when on wide roads with no oncoming traffic and no real reason for the traffic on my side to turn and I gunned it to get past two Tractor units but the lead one waited til I was alongside and flicked its nose out. So I am thinking, ah, well, it'll take me a while to get it back up.... what? where's me f***ing brakes???? Oh, hello Mr Sea! They make crap submarines, Remingtons.

There is a way, using the "Customs Fast Track" mission, that makes any vehicle bulletproof and damageproof for the rest of the game.
Drive a vehicle you want proofed to the docks and drive in to the red glow and it will magically alter the cars characteristics for you.
No idea why, I normally just use the Rhino code for everything-proofed vehicles.

Rob White - 06 Nov 2006 11:53 GMT > Is that in all versions of the game? I quite like the idea of having > ann everything proof vehicle - or should I just say Paul proof as it's > really me that destroys them :O) As far as I know the "Customs Fast Track" trick is in all versions.
The Rhino cheat, which makes a car impervious to all damage including tipping on it's roof and setting it alight when a lit CJ enters, ONLY works when you're outside a vehicle.
If you're in a vehicle and turn it on the car will still be susceptible to damage. Quite a few people out there thinks this code does nothing as a result.
It's a great code for the Hydra, you can make some really cool videos of avoiding the Restricted Area's SAMs and then flying round the desert at high speed. As it won't smoke or blow up you can fool people in to thinking you really are flying upside down an inch or two off the ground :o)

Oh, aye, forgot to mention, the second big garage (the four car one) on SF is refusing to take four cars. i don't now if this is a throwback to my using the tank spawn early in the game, but I don't think this has ever happened on the ps2

The game has a differential chart so it knows which games you can theoretically store together and which ones you can't (For example it knows your not supposed to be able to store four Roadtrain trucks in the same garage).

Rob White - 06 Nov 2006 19:30 GMT > I'll try the red fast track thing... does this happen when you have > already sold all the cars to them? I meant the "Customs Fast Track" mission. It's the one where you have to go with Cesar to find a car in a shipping container that's on the I/E ship. In this mission, you get to hear that Cesar has a fear of heights which explains why in the storyline he doesn't travel by helicopter in a mission unless you "force" him to.
IMHO, that part of the game's mission strand could have been explained and built upon a bit. It doesn't seem like CJ and his pals are running a proper garage with an import business, it seems like filler material before we get to the LV missions (Which are rich in plot points and marrybone jelly).

That one always gives me trouble, but I mainly put that down to the amount of Wheel Arch Angels' modified cars I have stored there.

Yeah, i worked it out when I dragged a sh.t stallion up there, parked it then shot the sh.t out of it and it blew up in about two seconds

It's annoying because they send you after certain cars and you're passing exactly the same car on the road. i think only the first one in that bunch of missions is a hard car to find.

First off, I'd like to say 'hi' to everyone. I haven't been here for quite some time now (I think I stopped visiting shortly after VCS was announced - I remember making a post or two about it, but then I stopped coming). I also haven't been playing San Andreas for ages either, having too many other games to play, including, recently, VCS - great game, VRock brings the soundtrack back up to standards after the bollocks that passed for a soundtrack in LCS. I still maintain that Vice City has one of the greatest soundtracks in gaming history, and, while VCS doesn't match that, it does have some great rock tunes. The missions are great, and I like Vic Vance as a character - including the way he develops as a character. For example, he goes from refusing to touch drugs at the start of VCS to dealing, what was it, 20kg of Columbian in '86? The only problem is that it overloads the PSP - the radio cuts out frequently for a second or so at a time, and the pop-up is horrific. I've had to wait for entire neighbourhoods to load.
Anyway, back on topic, it is in fact possible to do this. Having seen this challenge when I came back, I couldn't resist, so I dug out SA and set out to accomplish it. I went up to northern Las Venturas and waited for a decent car (in the end I got a ZR-350), then drove to K.A.C.C. Military Fuels in the north-east corner of the map. I set out west, then drove south to join the Strip at Emerald Isle, and drove down to the Julius Thruway, where I started to go west again. Unfortunately, at this point, 5 cars crashed into each other at the red lights at the junction with the Harry Gold Parkway, and the debris took out one of my headlights. Which counts as a scrape.
I went back to K.A.C.C. and decided the mistake was in using the freeway - everyone drives way to fast. So I got another ZR and tried another route, never staying on the freeway for longer than it took to get in or out of a city. In the end, I got this second car down to the beach south-west of Angel Pine without any damage on it (I hit something very slowly at one point, but nothing showed, and the challenge states only that there must be no scrapes). That's a corner of the map, so I did it. The trick is never to pass a car at a junction, as they have a tendency to turn very sharply, and very suddenly, or on the freeway, where every car swaps lanes every few seconds. Also, I used the hard shoulder quite a bit. To show how slow I drove, it took me 20 minutes in the end - I left LV at the freeway junction in the north-west, drove across the north side of the desert, rejoined the freeway at the tunnel just north of the Bayside Marina, over the Gant Bridge, through SF to the point where the freeway leave in the south-east of the city and turns into country roads, then past Mount Chiliad and to that beach I ended up at.
I think I've said enough here. Sorry I went on a bit.
Margrave of Brandenburg - 19 Dec 2006 02:24 GMT > Anyway, back on topic, it is in fact possible to do this. I tried it too. Not too hard at all if you travel mostly by rail.
I got the Ferrari in VC, drove to KACC and started my trek. I went through the north-side neighborhoods, but got frustrated with the other drivers. So I got onto the railroad tracks and road the rails all the way to the south side of SF.
Unfortunately, I neglected to exit the tracks before leaving town. So I went through the tunnels, which finally end to the south and east.
I drove up a hill to rejoin the road, but that road goes south then east. Wrong way.
So I found a backwoods trail, and I made my way to the main coast highway. From there, I needed to find a way to get down onto the beach. I got bored and just drove over the cliff.
Final score: one over-the-final-cliff crackup.
