Selling a car, taking a beating...

Stephen! - 10 Oct 2006 01:16 GMT So there I was... Running around, creating mayham between missions. Saw a neat little car that I wanted so I stol^H^H^H^Hliberated it from its owner. When I got in I was informed that I could export the car at the docks. Not really caring much for its handling I headed on over.
Since it was a small car I decided to drive it up the ramp rather than using the crane. When I drove it into the circle and hopped out I was paid the sume of -$9,xxx,xxx,xxx for the car (don't recall the exact amount)... (yes, NEGATIVE). For the next five minutes I ran around watching my cash reserves go further and further into the hole...
What the hell happened??

Which version are you playing? Driving up the ramp etc shouldn't matter and I am sure I have sold cars under a wanted level, though I could be the victim of my awful memory there

I tried to snag a screen shot when it flashed the amount but I couldn't remember how quick enough. The replay doesn't show my cash or any of the other HUD things so that was a no-go as well.

Wonder how many drug dealers I'd have to ice to get back in the black... ;)

I do wonder if it would be like the cheat thing, where you get minus ratings? Not a big issue except pride, i try not to use any cheats in either VC or SA as they both register them. CJ is an honest killer :O)

In GTA:LCS, there's a Karmageddon mission on the second island (I always forget its name..Staunton?). In this mission, you take control of a fire truck, and you have to cause a certain amount of damage in as short a time as possible.
I found this mission great for getting rid of the police. If you can get to the fire truck, it's very easy from there. The fire truck is a very sturdy beast, and with all the cops slamming in to you it's extremely easy to pass the mission! After that, no more police stars!
Also, this specific truck seems not to be bothered by punctured wheels at all. If I take a regular firetruck and have its wheels punctures, the controls are much worse (but still driveable).

And that mission so far is the best mission ever to have appeared in a GTA game! Man did I laugh my a.s off. =:-) Thanks Rockstar you can repeat it over and over again.

It would've been a *lot* more fun if the fire engine for that mission had the same physics as normal fire engines (or at least the fire engines in the other GTA games) - just seems like the fire engine for that mission shoves cars out of the way instead of sending them flying like bowling pins as in the other games.

The only difference I noticed is that its tires can be punctured without having any noticeable effect on driveability. And perhaps it's sturdier as well, although I have been able to get it to blow up during the mission.
If you hit a car right (driving somewhat diagonally at a good speed while hitting another car just barely at a corner), it does fly in all directions. Especially when the other car is an FBI car trying to smash into you. Damn, those babies can fly!

The impression I got from Martin's post is that it's possible to go into the red just through normal play.
Rob White - 12 Oct 2006 09:19 GMT > > I thought you could only get 1 million in the red? At least on the PS2. > > I didn't know you could go into the red at all. How do you manage that? The easiest method is to play the high-roller Poker games in Las Venturas. Hit the $10,000 or $100,000 tables and play until you run out of cash. As the casinos think you're good for it they'll let you play on (In real life, I think it's called a marker).
Eventually you'll reach your credit limit, and have to leave the table. If you do this with Caligula's Casino they'll send some hitmen after you!
There's a bug here too IIRC, it resets your score or something. Something to do with a Pay'n'Spray?
Cheers, Rob

STM - 30 Oct 2006 13:22 GMT Is this the PC version of a console version? If PC, I recommend reinstalling, as this sounds like a corruption of a file somewhere in the installation. Either way, this is something I've never heard of before and is very odd.
