There is a line in here that really makes me angry:

The lawsuit claims the game trained him how to point and shoot a gun in a
way that made him "an extraordinarily effective killer without teaching him
any of the constraints or responsibilities needed to inhibit such a killing
capacity".

How ridiculous is that? I have played every GTA game there is for hours each
and I couldn't hit a cow's arse from 2 yards! Lawsuits like this are filed
by people who don't want to accept their relative was mentally unstable
before hand.

Dy - angry and glad he can shoot virtual people on the playstation instead
of real people on the bus

I wonder how good his driving ability was.

He constantly lost control, span onto the pavement and killed
civilians. He also had the urge to dress in a really tacky blue
hawaiian shirt :O)

In that case, he was definitely influenced by the game.

I forgot to mention he kept turning his head while running too, as if
staring at something in the sky slightly behind him.

it's the same old sh.t as they trot out every time. its parents
looking for someone to blame other than themselves.

it was the same as when they tried to blame Columbine on Doom and
marilyn manson ffs.

how about it was just a case of the kids being a bit f.cking nuts?

well yes, its the same thing frankly.

it's the "blame everyone but us" mentality thats creeping into western
society.

i blame the Daily Mail.

bunch of c.nts the lot of them.

how anyone can claim GTA, a series with possibly one of *the* worst
auto-aiming systems ever can be hailed as a "marksmanship training
aid" is beyond me.

if you ask me, anyone who files such a ridiculous claim such as these
and the hundreds of others blaming varous media for their childrens
misdeeds should be locked up themselves for being utterly shite
parents who have no control over their children.

I can't recall where I first saw the words 'marksmanship training aid'
and 'murder simulator' and all the other bollocks. Like everything
else there will be a nutter who latches on to something... hey, how
come they didn't ban Catcher in the Rye after Lenon's death?

Well. Ho-hum. Should see an upward spike in GTA-title sales as a
result. All publicity = good publicity blah blah etc.

All such accusations, instead of hurting a title, actually boost sales.

I'm not sure about this. I haven't kept up with the rumour mill but
aren't the makers being kind of forced to sell to the highest bidder
to keep this going?
Am I right that I heard M$ have got first shot of the next game to
help pay for all the crap re san andreas?

Oh I don't know... it's certainly possible.
But, since acquiring a 360, I don't mind so much anymore.

Now: I truly & utterly hate to admit it, but I like both the 360 and
what M$ have done with it ('specially Live, which simply rocks).
Downside: some slightly derivative-feeling games (Amped 3, I'm looking
at you).

Consequently, I'll likely be playing the 360 version of GTA IV anyway,
as opposed to the P$3ony one. GTA shall prevail. =)

Personally I never got and never will get this fascination people have
with pitting consoles against each other, and it's getting boring,
specially when only one of them exists, but I do enjoy using my xbox
on most things. This GTA pack though, as far as I can see only the
first game looks better than ps2 and the cars look better in VC. San
andreas looks almost like a cartoon, very flat.
buttons are crap, it took me yonks to get used to the ps2 ones and the
bloody xbox versions seem to change from one game to the next and not
get better. I have also noted a juddering often in Vice City where on
the ps2 all I had to worry about was the ground disappearing once in a
while, xbox version seems to struggle often when the scene is busy or
I think when Tommy is inside a building.

I'm a victim of GTA too.  I've been trained to put the cursor over the
cartoonishly rendered representation of a policeman and click the left
mouse button.  Police everywhere fear me.

I have also found that when I am cycling around if I bump into a
police car the cop gets out and shoots me.

Even when it's his fault for turning into your path with no warning or
apparent motive.

don't forget the peds who get scared when youre driving fast and jump
in front of you, rather than away from you.

they also do this *all the time* in Saints Row, which is just silly
beyond belief.

yeah, i am trying to do my usual collection of setting up a starter
save point in all three games and it is proving painful getting used
to the foibles of the different driving habits and having to use the
wrong hand for braking suddenly etc. major stress levels!
