Ok,I just finished the flying class and I'm on Woozie's second
mission(from the casino) to get the explosives from the quarry. My
question is how do I break open the boxes? I tried with the shovel and
the bat and it doesn't work. Thanks in Advance

Explosives?  The best way to handle explosives is to shoot the box
open.  It works quite well in real life.

Doesn't the game say you need heavy equipment, or something? Look around
you in the quarry.

When you hit the bottom of the quarry you will note one HUGE truck.
You take that and drive over each box, so you don't want to be going
too fast as time is limited, and don't park on top of the open box as
you have to jump from the cab to get each stick. I think the timer
stops once you have all of the sticks. It can get a bit awkward as
there are some overhead obstructions and mounds of dirt deliberately
placed... oh, and one of the sticks is on a fork-lift truck, just ram
into it. This is one of those missions you get used to.

And there IS a way to have all the time you want, of course....

Not heard of that one before...

My son is going through VC now he seems old enough. He's pointing out a few
things I hadn't realised, like the armour you pick up if you manage to steal
an unlocked SWAT truck. Anyway - he's just managed to get rid of the timer
in the taxi mission by depositing his customer exactly as the timer ran out.

Snipe the two guys standing next to the detonator.  (You can do that from
the top of the pit before even going down, with the zooming sniper rifle.)

As I recall, they don't really need to be sniped. You can just walk up
to them and blow them away. Then blow everyone else away, crack the
boxes with the dumptruck and pick up the dynamite at your leisure...

I think you're right.  I guess I just always do it that way.

Tried it just now, and the timer vanishes as soon as you shoot the bloke on
the right (as you look down from the quarry office), even if you don't hit
the one on the left.

I then got the dumper stuck on a bit of scaffolding (SA's clipping detection
isn't always foolproof) and had to blow it up (which fails the mission). Oh
well.

Right.  I think I only did the bike thing twice -- just to see how it went.
I always use other means now.
